Effective assessment of electric power losses in three-core XLPE cables for offshore wind planning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents a novel technique to evaluate the electric power losses in MVAC and HVAC three-core XLPE cables. The proposed formulation allows to evaluate these losses without power flow simulations by shaping it either in a spreadsheet or in ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Two-Way Power Flow Balancing in Three-Phase Three-Wire Networks by Unbalanced Capacitive Shunt Compensation

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Developed to achieve the balancing of three-phase loads and improve their power factor, the BCC (Balancing Capacitive Compensator) is presented in this paper as having a broader capability, namely that of balancing the two-way power flow.

General Three-Phase Linear Power Flow for Active Distribution Networks With Good Adaptability Under a Polar Coordinate System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Linear power flow (LPF) is necessary for robust and fast centralized control of active distribution networks (ADNs). With penetration of distributed generators (DGs) into ADN, voltage-controlled nodes are becoming more common, to maintain a normal ...

MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.

Unified modeling and operation strategy for long-distance co-phase cable traction power supply system with novel compensation scheme

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
Compensation with a power flow controller (PFC) is crucial for enhancing power quality and power supply capability of the long-distance co-phase cable traction power supply system (TPSS).

Voltage Regulation Planning for Distribution Networks Using Multi-Scenario Three-Phase Optimal Power Flow

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
Active distribution networks must operate properly for different scenarios of load levels and distributed generation. An important operational requirement is to maintain the voltage profile within standard operating limits.

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.
