Automatic compensation system for impedance measurement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This paper deals with the realization of the four-pair terminal definition of impedance standards. A simple, though reliable, system is described that allows an automatic compensation of the voltage at the low potential port of impedance standards to be ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Three-Phase Distribution Locational Marginal Pricing to Manage Unbalanced Variable Renewable Energy

open access: yes, 2020
This paper investigates three-phase, component-wise real and reactive distribution locational marginal pricing (DLMP). Through the use of case studies, mixtures of positive and negative, as well as real and reactive, DLMP components are explored in ...

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Flux-Weakening Strategies for a Five-Phase PM Synchronous Machine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In order to get a low cost mild hybrid system, a global objective is to keep the actual thermal engine architecture. As consequence, the current clawpole synchronous automotive generator must be replaced by a new more powerful electrical machine but with

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Partitioning of rare earths in polymer-based three-liquid-phase system driven by transfer of hydrated PEGs: Understanding change of phase volume ratios

open access: yes, 2016
The relationship between the partitioning of rare-earth ions in polymer-based three-liquid-phase system (TLPS) of Cyanex 272/PEG 6001(NH4)(2)SO4-H2O and the change in volume ratios of PEG-rich middle phase to salt-rich bottom phase was investigated.

Polarization Mode Noise in Ultra-Low Drift Phase Reference Distribution System over Fiber Network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The impact of polarization mode noise on the temporal drift of a delivered analogue phase reference signal through an optical fiber network is studied.
