Analysis and Treatment of Three-Phase Unbalance Problem
2020 IEEE 4th Information Technology, Networking, Electronic and Automation Control Conference (ITNEC), 2020Once the three-phase unbalanced problem occurs in the power supply and distribution system, it will cause damage to the lines, transformers and power equipment. This paper analyzes the causes and harms of the three-phase imbalance problem and summarizes the management methods of the three-phase imbalance problem.

A large number of high-power single-phase electric heating loads, represented by air conditioners entering into domestic consumption is easy to cause asymmetric distribution of three-phase loads in three-phase four-wire power supply system. It is difficult to popularize traditional post-treatment methods for three-phase unbalance problems because of ...

Voltage Unbalance Compensation with Smart Three-phase Loads
2016 Power Systems Computation Conference (PSCC), 2016This paper describes the design, proof-of-concept simulations and laboratory test of an algorithm for controlling active front-end rectifiers to reduce voltage unbalance. Usinginputs of RMS voltage, the rectifier controller allocates load unevenly on its 3 phases to compensate for voltage unbalance originating in the power supply network.

With the increasing unbalanced loads connect to the three-phase four-wire power system, three-phase unbalance caused by these loads will reduce the service life of electrical equipment and increase line loss. To solve these problems by reducing the three-phase unbalance, a three-level neutral point clamped compensator based on model predictive control ...

Space-vector approach in three-phase unbalance and distortion analysis
2016 17th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power (ICHQP), 2016This paper shows that the space-vector approach is an eminent and powerful tool in three-phase analysis. It is able to manage in a unitary way the sinusoidal, distorted and transient conditions. Its complex Fourier series implements a formal unification between unbalance and distortion; such unification is conceptually significant and leads to ...

Joint Voltage and Phase Unbalance Detector for Three Phase Power Systems
IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2013This letter develops a fast detection algorithm for voltage and phase unbalance in three phase power systems. It is suitable for real time applications since the required observation length is one cycle. It is shown to successfully detect small unbalance conditions at low SNRs. Its detection performance is shown to outperform traditional detectors that

Voltage unbalance mitigation in LV networks using three-phase PV systems
2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2015In this paper a new method is proposed to mitigate voltage unbalance caused by single-phase solar inverters in low voltage (LV) networks. The method is based on uneven reactive power absorption and injection by three-phase solar inverters. Independent control of each phase is performed to achieve this uneven injection.

Practical Method for Mitigating Three-Phase Unbalance Based on Data-Driven User Phase Identification
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2020Unbalanced operation of a three-phase distribution system could incur more power losses, compared with the balanced operation. So far, the phase information of users in low voltage areas is not recorded by power utilities and the three-phase unbalance ...
