A Three-Phase Allocation Strategy Solving Three-Phase Unbalance Problem in Air Conditioners’ Applications

2019 22nd International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2019
A large number of high-power single-phase electric heating loads, represented by air conditioners entering into domestic consumption is easy to cause asymmetric distribution of three-phase loads in three-phase four-wire power supply system. It is difficult to popularize traditional post-treatment methods for three-phase unbalance problems because of ...

Development of three-phase to single-phase matrix converter for improvement of three-phase voltage unbalance in distribution system

2012 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Circuits and Systems, 2012
In this paper, a distribution transformer using three-phase to single-phase matrix converter with an AC inductor is proposed to suppress three-phase voltage unbalance. The AC inductor is used for compensation of single-phase power pulsation at any load conditions. Control strategy and simulation results are shown in this paper.

Investigation of line-commutated three-phase converters with impedance unbalance

Proceedings of the 2010 Electric Power Quality and Supply Reliability Conference, 2010
Current converters operated in unbalanced electrical three-phase systems will generally work asymmetrically, which causes the appearance of non-characteristic harmonics and therefore higher distortion levels. In this paper unbalances are considered, that are caused by asymmetrical AC-line short-circuit impedances, which are usually a result of ...

Study of the apparent load loss unbalance in three-phase transformers

Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2005., 2006
In a three-phase transformer, the load losses are generally similar between phases, with some small variations due to the proximity of the tank on lateral phases. However, when a three-phase test configuration is used, the measured active losses in each phase are significantly unbalanced and do not reflect the actual losses in each phase.

Three-phase active voltage regulator for sag and unbalance compensation

2002 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2002. IEEE ICIT '02., 2003
Requirements on the power quality of AC sources are becoming more stringent as more voltage-sensitive equipments are being used. Among many power quality issues, voltage unbalance and voltage sags are two serious ones. This paper proposes an active voltage regulator, which is composed of a voltage source fed inverter (VSI) coupled in series with the ...

The influence of grid-connected three-phase inverters on voltage unbalance

IEEE PES General Meeting, 2010
The increasing presence of single-phase distributed generators and unbalanced loads in the electric power system may lead to unbalance of the three phase voltages, resulting in increased losses and heating. To decrease this voltage unbalance problem three-phase four-wire inverter-connected distributed generation units may be used.

Space-vector approach in three-phase unbalance and distortion analysis

2016 17th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power (ICHQP), 2016
This paper shows that the space-vector approach is an eminent and powerful tool in three-phase analysis. It is able to manage in a unitary way the sinusoidal, distorted and transient conditions. Its complex Fourier series implements a formal unification between unbalance and distortion; such unification is conceptually significant and leads to ...

Passive unbalance compensation device for three-phase variable loads

2011 10th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering, 2011
This paper describes constitution and design characteristics of a passive unbalance compensator for variable loads in three-phase four-wire industrial installations. Unbalance compensator is integrated by three-phase connections of variable coils and capacitors.

Three‐Phase to Single‐Phase Matrix Converter for Improvement of Three‐Phase Voltage Unbalance in Distribution System

Electrical Engineering in Japan, 2016
SUMMARYFrom the global environmental viewpoint, distributed power systems using renewable energy source, such as solar power, wind power, and water power, are attracting much attention. Photovoltaic (PV) systems using solar power have few resource constraints and can be installed easily on the roofs of houses.

A three-phase regulated PWM rectifier with on-line feedforward input unbalance correction

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 1994
The analysis and design of a direct six-switch three-phase PWM rectifier, capable of correcting input unbalance, is presented. Based on the input source positive and negative sequence components, an unbalanced transfer matrix in terms of input phase voltages is derived. An online method is used to implement the transfer matrix function and generate the
