Three-Valued Modal Logic for Qualitative Comparative Policy Analysis with Crisp-Set QCA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Contradictory and missing outcomes are problems common to many qualitative comparative studies, based on the methodology of crisp-set QCA. They also occur in public policy analyses, e.g.

Field‐Free Spin–Orbit Torque Switching of Perpendicular Magnetization by PtTe2/WTe2 Bilayers at Sub‐ns Timescales

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates ultrafast, field‐free spin–orbit torque (SOT) switching using a PtTe2/WTe2/CoFeB multilayer, achieving sub‐nanosecond magnetization reversal with record‐low energy consumption. The PtTe2/WTe2 bilayer generates an intrinsic out‐of‐plane spin current, enabling deterministic switching without external fields.

Reconfigurable Nucleic Acid Nanoparticles with Therapeutic RNAi Responses to Intracellular Disease Markers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Many known diseases arise from dysregulated gene expression, and differentially expressed genes can serve as biomarkers to distinguish diseased cells from healthy tissues. In this study, reconfigurable nucleic acid nanoparticles (recNANPs) are introduced that can detect overexpressed cancer biomarkers and subsequently release RNAi inducers to silence ...

Understanding Postdeposition Treatments of Hole‐Transporting Self‐Assembling Molecules for Perovskite/Silicon Tandem Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of postdeposition treatments on the formation of self‐assembling (mono)layers commonly utilized as hole transport layers in perovskite‐based solar cells is thoroughly investigated. The implementation of a washing step and an annealing step at temperatures exceeding the current literature standards leads to an enhanced layer quality and ...

Extended logic-plus-functional programming [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Extensions of logic and functional programming are integrated in RELFUN. Its valued clauses comprise Horn clauses (true\u27-valued) and clauses with a distinguished foot\u27 premise (returning arbitrary values).

Generalized event structures and probabilities

open access: yes, 2016
For the classical mind, quantum mechanics is boggling enough; nevertheless more bizarre behavior could be imagined, thereby concentrating on propositional structures (empirical logics) that transcend the quantum domain.

3D Concrete Printing of Triply Periodic Minimum Surfaces for Enhanced Carbon Capture and Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printable and carbon‐capturing concrete is developed by replacing cement with diatomaceous earth (DE), which enhances rheology, provides hierarchical porosity, and serves as a nucleation site for carbonation. Maximum absorption of 488.7 gCO2 kgcement−1 is achieved in 7 days, a 142% increase over conventional concrete, and the triply periodic ...

The Synergy of Artificial Intelligence and 3D Bioprinting: Unlocking New Frontiers in Precision and Tissue Fabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Advances in integrating artificial intelligence into 3D bioprinting are systematically reviewed here. Machine learning, computer vision, robotics, natural language processing, and expert systems are examined for their roles in optimizing bioprinting parameters, real‐time monitoring, quality control, and predictive maintenance.

Natural Deduction for Three-Valued Regular Logics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, I consider a family of three-valued regular logics: the well-known strong and weak S.C. Kleene’s logics and two intermedi- ate logics, where one was discovered by M.

Coherent Integration of Databases by Abductive Logic Programming

open access: yes, 2004
We introduce an abductive method for a coherent integration of independent data-sources. The idea is to compute a list of data-facts that should be inserted to the amalgamated database or retracted from it in order to restore its consistency. This method
