Universal Three Dimensional Optical Logic

open access: yes, 2014
Modern integrated circuits are essentially two-dimensional (2D). Partial three-dimensional (3D) integration and 3D-transistor-level integrated circuits have long been anticipated as routes to improve the performance, cost and size of electronic computing

Supergeometry of Three Dimensional Black Holes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
We show how the supersymmetric properties of three dimensional black holes can be obtained algebraically. The black hole solutions are constructed as quotients of the supergroup $OSp(1|\,2;R)$ by a discrete subgroup of its isometry supergroup.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Three-dimensional spacetimes of maximal order [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We show that the equivalence problem for three-dimensional Lorentzian manifolds requires at most the fifth covariant derivative of the curvature tensor. We prove that this bound is sharp by exhibiting a class of 3D Lorentzian manifolds which realize this

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Equivalence of three-dimensional spacetimes

open access: yes, 2008
A solution to the equivalence problem in three-dimensional gravity is given and a practically useful method to obtain a coordinate invariant description of local geometry is presented.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

3D Buoyancy-Induced Flow and Entropy Generation of Nanofluid-Filled Open Cavities Having Adiabatic Diamond Shaped Obstacles

open access: yesEntropy, 2016
A three dimensional computational solution has been obtained to investigate the natural convection and entropy generation of nanofluid-filled open cavities with an adiabatic diamond shaped obstacle.

Three-dimensional Gonihedric Potts model

open access: yes, 2003
We study, by the Mean Field and Monte Carlo methods, a generalized q-state Potts gonihedric model. The phase transition of the model becomes stronger with increasing $q.$ The value $k_c(q),$ at which the phase transition becomes second order, turns out ...
