Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

Data privacy model using blockchain reinforcement federated learning approach for scalable internet of medical things

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) has typical advancements in the healthcare sector with rapid potential proof for decentralised communication systems that have been applied for collecting and monitoring COVID‐19 patient data. Machine Learning algorithms typically use the risk score of each patient based on risk factors, which could help ...

Validation of Aortic Blood Flow Simulations During Extracorporeal Circulation Using Phase Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
This is the first study assessing in vivo blood flow profiles during extracorporeal circulation (ECC) scenarios. Magnetic resonance imaging data served for the calibration of computational fluid dynamics algorithms, enabling accurate replication of the hemodynamic conditions.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY FOR MANAGEMENT OF MITRAL VALVE DISEASE

open access: yes, 2011
Echocardiography is the most common noninvasive tool for assessing cardiac structure and function. Three-dimensional echocardiography expands the diagnostic capabilities of cardiac ultrasound.

Real Time Three Dimensional Fetal Echocardiography Using Two Dimensional Array Technology

open access: yes, 2012
Three dimensional (3D) echocardiography represents a major paradigm shift in medical ultrasound imaging. As opposed to reconstructed 3D echocardiography which is based on a series of two dimensional images, the revolutionary development of the two ...

The first case of Reel Syndrome in a dog after pacemaker implantation: A case report

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Reel Syndrome is a rare complication of permanent pacemaker implantation, characterised by the rotation of the device around its transverse axis, which causes the lead to coil around the generator and displacement, leading to pacing dysfunction. This report presents the first documented case of Reel Syndrome in a dog.

Three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography of the atrial septal defects

open access: yes, 2008
Transesophageal echocardiography has advantages over transthoracic technique in defining morphology of atrial structures. Even though real time three-dimensional echocardiographic imaging is a reality, the off-line reconstruction technique usually allows

Circulating Musclin is associated with skeletal muscle function and subclinical cardiac dysfunction in patients with cancer

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Musclin (osteocrin) is a skeletal muscle‐derived peptide that has been implicated in cardioprotective signalling pathways. Its relevance in cancer patients, who frequently experience muscle wasting and cardiotoxicity, remains unclear. This study aimed to determine whether circulating Musclin levels reflect functional capacity and

Real-time three-dimensional echocardiography: technological gadget or clinical tool?

open access: yes, 2007
The complex anatomy of cardiac structures requires three-dimensional spatial orientation of images for a better understanding of structure and function, thereby improving image interpretation.
