Around and Through: Successful Mitral Paravalvular Leakage Closure Using Both Anterograde and Retrograde Approaches

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 107, Issue 7, Page 2179-2182, June 1, 2026.
ABSTRACT Paravalvular leak (PVL) is a recognized complication after surgical mitral valve replacement and may cause heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, or hemolysis when moderate or severe. Although redo surgery is the definitive treatment, it carries substantial risk in elderly patients or those with multiple prior cardiac surgeries.

New‐Onset Acute Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction Associated With Severe Microcytic Anemia

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Graphical abstract summarizing a case of new‐onset HFrEF associated with profound microcytic anemia, highlighting severe anemia as a potential reversible trigger of acute cardiac decompensation. ABSTRACT Severe microcytic anemia may serve as a potentially reversible precipitating factor in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). This case

ERDHEIM‐Chester Disease: Two Fatal Cases With Unusual Presentations

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography‐computed tomography (FDG PET‐CT) demonstrated markedly increased metabolic activity in serosal surfaces including pericardium, pleura, and renal fascia, as well as diffuse uptake along vascular walls, particularly the entire aorta.

Autopsy‐Proven Immune‐Mediated Hepatitis With Rapid Liver Atrophy Despite Minimal Aminotransferase Elevation After Durvalumab Plus Tremelimumab Therapy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Immune‐mediated hepatitis caused by immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) is typically suspected based on aminotransferase elevation; however, biochemical signals may be blunted in advanced cirrhosis, potentially delaying recognition. A 71‐year‐old woman with cirrhosis due to metabolic dysfunction–associated steatohepatitis and Barcelona Clinic ...

P2X7 receptors promote atrial remodeling and atrial fibrillation susceptibility via reactive oxygen species‐mediated mitogen‐activated protein kinase signaling activation

open access: yesJournal of Cell Communication and Signaling, Volume 20, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common clinical arrhythmia, is driven by inflammatory activation and oxidative stress, though precise molecular links remain unclear. This study identifies the P2X7 receptor as a key upstream regulator orchestrating proarrhythmic atrial remodeling through reactive oxygen species (ROS)‐mediated mitogen ...

Patient‐Specific In Silico Prediction of Outcomes of Partial Continuous‐Flow LVAD Treatment in Peripartum Cardiomyopathy

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, Volume 42, Issue 6, June 2026.
Partial continuous‐flow left ventricular assist device (LVAD) treatment of peripartum cardiomyopathy provides greater functional improvement for higher than lower disease severity. The left ventricle and LVAD jointly generate ventricular output for mild functional impairment, where the left ventricular contribution decreases with increasing LVAD ...

Exploring the Mechanisms of Total Saponins of Black Ginseng and Ginsenoside Rg3 Against Doxorubicin‐Induced Cardiotoxicity

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
TSF and Rg3 demonstrate significant cardioprotective effects against DOX‐induced cardiotoxicity (DIC) by mitigating oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis while preserving mitochondrial function. These findings provide novel insights into the clinical relevance of TSF and Rg3 in the management of DIC.

Retrospective Cross‐Sectional Study of Transthoracic Echocardiographic Reports in Patients Diagnosed With Aortic Regurgitation in Mashhad, Iran; to Evaluate Echocardiographic Determinants of AR Severity, With Specific Focus on STJ‐Related Parameters

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Aortic regurgitation (AR) is associated with characteristic changes in aortic root geometry. Data on detailed echocardiographic patterns of AR in Iranian cohorts remain limited. This study aimed to describe the echocardiographic and etiologic characteristics of patients with AR and to assess the associations between ...
