Genome‐Wide Association Analyses Reveal the Genetic Basis of EMS Mutagenesis Efficiency in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on large‐scale screening of 420 rice accessions, GWAS identified the Rc locus as a key regulator of EMS mutagenesis efficiency. Functional Rc alleles enhance both seed survival and genome‐wide mutation frequency by boosting antioxidant enzyme activities (CAT, SOD, POD) and reducing oxidative damage.

A Nonviral Neo‐Nucleocapsid for Cell‐Specific RNA Delivery Developed by Pseudo‐Cyclic Peptide Grafting and Directed Evolution

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Nonviral neo‐nucleocapsids developed from a repurposed bacterial protein cage, and macrocyclic peptide pharmacophores via protein‐protein ligation, bacteria‐based directed evolution, lasso‐grafting, and mammalian cell‐based directed evolution enabled cell specific RNA delivery.

His‐MMDM: Multi‐Domain and Multi‐Omics Translation of Histopathological Images with Diffusion Models

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
His‐MMDM is a diffusion model‐based framework for scalable multi‐domain and multi‐omics translation of histopathological images, enabling tasks from virtual staining, cross‐tumor knowledge transfer, and omics‐guided image editing. ABSTRACT Generative AI (GenAI) has advanced computational pathology through various image translation models.

NUDT21‐mediated Alternative Polyadenylation of CDK19 Reprograms Cholesterol Biosynthesis to Drive Colorectal Cancer Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NUDT21 is overexpressed in colorectal cancer tumors and promotes colorectal cancer progression. NUDT21 promotes the production of a cyclin‐dependent kinase 19 (CDK19) mRNA isoform with a long 3′ UTR, which enhances cytoplasmic export and translation. Truncation of the CDK19 long 3′ UTR phenocopies NUDT21 loss, recapitulating the defects in cholesterol ...

Immunity to MHC class I antigen after direct DNA transfer into skeletal muscle. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Plasmid cDNA encoding the alpha-chain of either membrane-bound (pcRT.45) or secreted (pcRQ.B3) RT1Aa MHC class I Ag were transferred to Lewis (RT1(1)) rat skeletal muscle by direct injection.

CRP-cAMP mediates silencing of Salmonella virulence at the post-transcriptional level [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Invasion of epithelial cells by Salmonella enterica requires expression of genes located in the pathogenicity island I (SPI-1). The expression of SPI-1 genes is very tightly regulated and activated only under specific conditions.

Additive and Partially Dominant Effects from Genomic Variation Contribute to Rice Heterosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Additive and partially dominant effects, namely at mid‐parent levels or values between mid‐parent and parental levels, respectively, are the predominant inheritance patterns of heterosis‐associated molecules. These two genetic effects contribute to heterosis of agronomic traits in both rice and maize, as well as biomass heterosis in Arabidopsis ...

Autosomal Dominant Erythrocytosis Caused by Non‐Renal Erythropoietin (EPO) Due to EPO c.‐136 G>A Germline Mutation

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
A novel erythropoietin (EPO) promoter mutation (c.‐136 G>A) causes autosomal dominant erythrocytosis via non‐renal expression of EPO. ABSTRACT We previously reported a five‐generation kindred with autosomal dominant erythrocytosis associated with a novel germline promoter variant in the erythropoietin (EPO) gene (EPO c.‐136 G>A).

The use of attenuated isolates of Pepino mosaic virus for cross-protection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Pepino mosaic virus (PepMV) has recently emerged as a highly infectious viral pathogen in tomato crops. Greenhouse trials were conducted under conditions similar to commercial tomato production.
