The Evolution of Locally Adaptive Chromosome Inversions in Mimulus guttatus
ABSTRACT Chromosomal inversion polymorphisms are ubiquitous across the diversity of diploid organisms and play a significant role in the evolution of adaptations in those species. Inversions are thought to operate as supergenes by trapping adaptive alleles at multiple linked loci through the suppression of recombination. While there is now considerable

FliS, a flagellin protein chaperon of the Lyme disease pathogen Borrelia burgdorferi, controls the cytoplasmic pool of flagellins (FlaB) at the level of translation initiation, secretion, and proteolysis. Deletion of fliS blocks FlaB secretion and translation initiation through a pattern‐switching mechanism of FliS‐FlaB‐FliW/CsrA. Therefore, the mutant

Unravelling the dynamics of seed‐stored mRNAs during seed priming
Summary Seed priming is a pre‐sowing treatment that enables more efficient and uniform seed germination; however, it negatively affects seed longevity. In this work, the mRNA dynamics underlying a hydropriming treatment have been investigated. Polysome profiling was performed on seeds during different stages of hydropriming.

The glutamate receptor‐like GLR2.7 modulates insect egg‐induced defense responses in Arabidopsis
Summary Upon perception of insect eggs, Arabidopsis thaliana activates a generic immune response that culminates in cell death (hypersensitive‐like response (HR‐like)). While this response can subsequently impact egg survival, the molecular mechanisms are poorly understood.

Summary The production of coronavirus disease 2019 vaccines can be achieved by transient expression of the spike (S) protein of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 in agroinfiltrated leaves of Nicotiana benthamiana. Relying on bacterial vector Agrobacterium tumefaciens, this process is favoured by co‐expression of viral silencing suppressor
