Loss of METTL3 m6A methyltransferase results in short‐term progression and poor treatment outcome of bladder cancer patients

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 3, Page 763-774, 1 February 2026.
What's new? Bladder cancer exhibits a highly heterogeneous molecular landscape and treatment response. The dysregulation of RNA modifications such as m6A has been involved in cancer initiation and progression. This study comprehensively analyzed the expression of the main catalytic component of the m6A methylation machinery in bladder tumors across one

Construction of Reverse Genetics System for Feline Calicivirus FCV‐BJ616 and Proteomic Analysis

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 1, February 2026.
This study successfully isolated the FCV‐BJ616 strain derived from cats and established a reverse genetics system. In vivo experiments showed that rFCV‐BJ616 exhibits wild‐type virulence, leading to high fever, weight loss, and multi‐organ lesions in infected cats. Proteomic analysis indicated that both rFCV‐BJ616 and FCV‐BJ616 share similar regulatory

QuickProt: A Fast and Accurate Homology‐Based Protein Annotation Tool for Non‐Model Organisms to Advance Comparative Genomics

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 26, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The rapid growth of genome sequencing has outpaced the development of efficient annotation tools, especially for species lacking transcriptome data. To address this challenge, we present QuickProt, a fast, accurate and user‐friendly homology‐based protein annotation tool.

Loss of E3 ligase HvST1 function substantially increases distal crossover frequency

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 3, Page 1325-1341, February 2026.
Summary This study characterizes the function of a grass‐specific E3 ubiquitin ligase, HvST1, in regulating synapsis and crossover (CO) formation during meiosis in barley (Hordeum vulgare). In large‐genome cereals, COs are predominantly restricted to distal chromosomal regions, limiting genetic recombination and breeding flexibility.
