Analysis of Slotted ALOHA With an Age Threshold [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2021
We present a comprehensive steady-state analysis of threshold-ALOHA, a distributed age-aware modification of slotted ALOHA proposed in recent literature. In threshold-ALOHA, each terminal suspends its transmissions until the Age of Information (AoI) of the status update flow it is sending reaches a certain threshold $Γ$.

Average Performance Analysis for Thresholding [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2007
In this letter, we show that with high probability, the thresholding algorithm can recover signals that are sparse in a redundant dictionary as long as the 2-Babel function is growing slowly. This implies that it can succeed for sparsity levels up to the order of the ambient dimension.

Functional Peaks-Over-Threshold Analysis

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 2022
AbstractPeaks-over-threshold analysis using the generalised Pareto distribution is widely applied in modelling tails of univariate random variables, but much information may be lost when complex extreme events are studied using univariate results. In this paper, we extend peaks-over-threshold analysis to extremes of functional data.

Analysis of Age of Information Threshold Violations [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 22nd International ACM Conference on Modeling, Analysis and Simulation of Wireless and Mobile Systems, 2019
We study a scenario where a monitor is interested in the freshest possible update from a remote sensor. The monitor also seeks to minimize the number of updates that exceed a certain freshness threshold, beyond which, the information is deemed to be too old. Previous work has presented results for First Come First Served (FCFS) systems. However, it has

Average Case Analysis of Multichannel Thresholding [PDF]

open access: yes2007 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing - ICASSP '07, 2007
This paper introduces p-thresholding, an algorithm to compute simultaneous sparse approximations of multichannel signals over redundant dictionaries. We work out both worst case and average case recovery analyses of this algorithm and show that the latter results in much weaker conditions on the dictionary. Numerical simulations confirm our theoretical

Optimal Design and Reduced Threshold in Vertically Emitting Circular Bragg Disk Resonator Lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We derive a comprehensive coupled-mode theory, including resonant vertical emission effects, for the analysis of nonperiodic circular Bragg lasers. We derive the governing characteristic equation for such lasers, yielding the threshold gain level and the

Pareto plot threshold for multiple factors in design of experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Economical, technical and strategic reasons make unreplicated experimental designs necessary and popular in industrial and management settings. This paper investigates the legitimate use of well known methods that appoint effects as significant when they

Tourism Employment and Economic Growth: Dynamic Panel Threshold Analysis

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
The manuscript reports on findings on the interconnection between tourism employment and economic growth for the selected OECD member states. The dynamic panel threshold regression method was used to analyze the data, where the threshold variable was ...

Forward dispersion relations and Roy equations in pi-pi scattering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We review results of an analysis of pipi interactions in S, P and D waves for two-pion effective mass from threshold to about 1.4 GeV. In particular we show a recent improvement of this analysis above the K anti-K threshold using more data for phase ...

Controllability Analysis of Threshold Graphs and Cographs [PDF]

open access: yes2018 European Control Conference (ECC), 2018
In this paper, we investigate the controllability of a linear time-invariant network following a Laplacian dynamics defined on a threshold graph. In this direction, an algorithm for deriving the modal matrix associated with the Laplacian matrix for this class of graphs is presented.
