The effect of aerobic exercise, ozone and mesenchymal stem cells on pain threshold changes in osteoarthritis rats

open access: yesFiyz̤, 2022
Background: Acute and chronic stress due to inactivity, especially inactivity due to osteoarthritis can affect pain threshold and painful behaviors; therefore, this study aimed to determine the effect of aerobic exercise, ozone and MSCs on pain threshold

Hyperalgesia and Central Sensitization in Subjects With Chronic Orofacial Pain: Analysis of Pain Thresholds and EEG Biomarkers

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2020
Introduction: The presence of a temporomandibular disorder is one of the most frequent causes of orofacial pain (OFP). When pain continues beyond tissue healing time, it becomes chronic and may be caused, among other factors, by the sensitization of ...

Moderators and mediators of pain and function outcomes in a new service delivery model for management of knee osteoarthritis in primary care (PARTNER): Secondary exploratory analysis of a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Explore moderators and mediators influenced changes in pain and function in people with knee osteoarthritis (OA) receiving a new model of primary care service delivery (PARTNER), at 12 months (ACTRN12617001595303). Methods Secondary analyses of a cluster randomized controlled trial comparing PARTNER to usual general practitioner‐delivered ...

How Much Does It Hurt: A Deep Learning Framework for Chronic Pain Score Assessment [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Chronic pain is defined as pain that lasts or recurs for more than 3 to 6 months, often long after the injury or illness that initially caused the pain has healed. The "gold standard" for chronic pain assessment remains self report and clinical assessment via a biopsychosocial interview, since there has been no device that can measure it.

Bioresorbable and Wireless Rechargeable Implanted Na‐ion Battery for Temporary Medical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐solid‐state bioresorbable Na‐ion battery is developed, composed entirely of bio‐eliminable materials. In vivo and ex vivo tests confirmed harmless disintegration of this implanted battery. Lifetime of the implanted battery can be precisely controlled by adjusting the dissolvable encapsulation layer's thickness.

Reduced pressure pain thresholds in response to exercise in chronic fatigue syndrome but not in chronic low back pain: an experimental study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Objective The aims of this study were to examine (i) base line pressure pain thresholds in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome and those with chronic low back pain compared with healthy subjects, (ii) the change in mean pain threshold in response to ...

Wearable Haptic Feedback Interfaces for Augmenting Human Touch

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The wearable haptic feedback interfaces enhance user experience in gaming, social media, biomedical instrumentation, and robotics by generating tactile sensations. This review discusses and categorizes current haptic feedback interfaces into force, thermal, and electrotactile stimulation‐based haptic feedback interfaces, elucidating their current ...

The role of histamine H1 receptor in the anterior cingulate cortex on nociception level following acute restraint stress in male rats

open access: yesPharmacology Research & Perspectives
Considering the importance of pain and stress, we decided to investigate the intra‐anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) microinjection of histamine and mepyramine alone and concurrently on acute pain induced by hot plate following restraint stress in male ...

Factors associated with the modulation of pain by visual distortion of body size [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Modulation of pain using visual distortion of body size (VDBS) has been the subject of various reports. However, the mechanism underlying the effect of VDBS on pain has been less often studied.
