Learning processes in multilayer threshold nets

Biological Cybernetics, 1978
An algorithm of learning in multilayer threshold nets without feedbacks is proposed. The net is built of threshold elements with binary inputs. During a learning process each input vector chi is accompanied by a teacher's decision omega (omega epsilon(1,...,M)).

Modelling SARS data using threshold geometric process

Statistics in Medicine, 2006
During the outbreak of an epidemic disease, for example, the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), the number of daily infected cases often exhibit multiple trends: monotone increasing during the growing stage, stationary during the stabilized stage and then decreasing during the declining stage.

Continuous-time threshold AR(1) processes

Advances in Applied Probability, 1996
A threshold AR(1) process with boundary width 2δ> 0 was defined by Brockwell and Hyndman [5] in terms of the unique strong solution of a stochastic differential equation whose coefficients are piecewise linear and Lipschitz. The positive boundary-width is a convenient mathematical device to smooth out the coefficient changes at the boundary and ...

The threshold contact process: a continuum limit

Probability Theory and Related Fields, 1996
In the threshold contact process on the \(d\)-dimensional integer lattice with range \(r\), healthy sites become infected at rate \(\lambda\) if they have at least one infected \(r\)-neighbour, and recover at rate 1. We show that the critical value \(\lambda_c (r)\) is asymptotic to \(r^{-d} \mu_c\) as \(r \to \infty\), where \(\mu_c\) is the critical ...

The Periodic Threshold Contact Process

1991
We consider the periodic threshold contact process with period 2 in one dimension with parameters λ and µ. This process dies out if λ + µ +2 > 4λµ. We obtain a sufficient condition for its survival, which is satisfied by (λ, µ) = (2.17, 2.18), (2.00, 2.37), and (1.50, 3.62), for example. These results were motivated by recent work of Cox and Durrett on

Detection thresholds of iterative MIMO processing

Proceedings IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory,, 2003
This paper studies threshold effects of iterative detection and decoding on multiple input/multiple output (MIMO) channels using the extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart technique.

Deterioration Processes With Increasing Thresholds

2009
The present chapter derives the reliability functions and hazard functions, when the threshold for deterioration is an increasing function of time. Four cases are considered. Case I: The threshold is a step function with K jumps at known points. Case II: The threshold is a step function with K jumps, where the location of jumps are random, following a ...

OBD-II Threshold Catalyst Aging Process

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1997
<div class="htmlview paragraph"><b>An improved process for determining oven aging times and temperatures for OBD-II threshold catalyst aging has been developed. The new process makes use of a catalyst model along with a kinetic data base in order to project vehicle tailpipe emissions for oven aged catalyst systems.

Current density distribution maps threshold processing

2014 IEEE 34th International Scientific Conference on Electronics and Nanotechnology (ELNANO), 2014
Magnetocardiography is one of the most progressive tools for diagnosis and investigation of heart diseases, such as coronary heart disease. Noninvasiveness, contactlessness, high sensitivity makes magnetocardiography suitable for this purpose and comfortable in use for physician. In this paper analysis of myocardium current density distribution maps is
