Improvement in the Between-Class Variance Based on Lognormal Distribution for Accurate Image Segmentation

open access: yesEntropy, 2022
There are various distributions of image histograms where regions form symmetrically or asymmetrically based on the frequency of the intensity levels inside the image.

Image Bi-Level Thresholding Based on Gray Level-Local Variance Histogram

open access: yesEntropy, 2017
Thresholding is a popular method of image segmentation. Many thresholding methods utilize only the gray level information of pixels in the image, which may lead to poor segmentation performance because the spatial correlation information between pixels ...

A machine-learning approach to setting optimal thresholds and its application in rolling bearing fault diagnosis

open access: yesMachine Learning: Science and Technology, 2023
Bearings are one of the critical components of any mechanical equipment. They induce most equipment faults, and their health status directly impacts the overall performance of equipment.

Efficient Circular Thresholding [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2014
Otsu's algorithm for thresholding images is widely used, and the computational complexity of determining the threshold from the histogram is O(N) where N is the number of histogram bins. When the algorithm is adapted to circular rather than linear histograms then two thresholds are required for binary thresholding.

Lifestyle Behaviors and Cardiotoxic Treatment Risks in Adult Childhood Cancer Survivors

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Higher doses of anthracyclines and heart‐relevant radiotherapy increase cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. This study assessed CVD and CVD risk factors among adult childhood cancer survivors (CCSs) across cardiotoxic treatment risk groups and examined associations between lifestyle behaviors and treatment risks.

A Novel Hybrid Image Segmentation Method for Detection of Suspicious Regions in Mammograms Based on Adaptive Multi-Thresholding (HCOW)

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Suspicious region segmentation is one of the most important parts of CAD systems that are used for breast cancer detection in mammograms. In a CAD system, there can be so many suspicious regions determined for a mammogram because of the complex structure
