The haemoproteids of the avian family Threskiornithidae (ibises and spoonbills) are reviewed. Two species, Haemoproteus pelouroi Tendeiro, 1947 and H. plataleae de Mello, 1935 are considered to be valid; these two species are redescribed, illustrated, and compared with similar species in the Gruidae (cranes).
