Involvement of inflammatory markers in pathogenesis of venous thromboembolism

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Laboratory Medicine, 2017
Inflammation of the venous wall is involved in thrombogenesis, thrombus resolution, wall remodeling and the post-thrombotic syndrome. Different mechanisms are involved in both arterial and venous thrombosis and patients with atherothrombosis hold a ...

Long-Term Embolic Outcomes After Detection of Left Ventricular Thrombus by Late Gadolinium Enhancement Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging: A Matched Cohort Study.

open access: yesCirculation Cardiovascular Imaging, 2019
BACKGROUND Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is more sensitive than echocardiography for the detection of intracardiac thrombus because of its unique ability to identify thrombus based on tissue ...

Type‐I Heterostructure CdZnS/ZnS Core/Shell Quantum Dots Scintillators for Stable, High‐Resolution, and Real‐Time X‐Ray Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ultra‐bright Cd0.27Zn0.73S/7 ML‐ZnS core/shell quantum dots exhibit a photoluminescence quantum yield exceeding 96% and a fourfold enhancement in radioluminescence intensity compared to CsPbBr3. Variable‐temperature photophysical analysis reveals that the narrowband emission originates from direct recombination of edge excitons.

Role of platelet count in a murine stasis model of deep vein thrombosis

open access: yesPlatelets
Platelets are core components of thrombi but their effect on thrombus burden during deep vein thrombosis (DVT) has not been fully characterized. We examined the role of thrombopoietin-altered platelet count on thrombus burden in a murine stasis model of ...

Intraventricular Thrombus Formation and Embolism in Takotsubo Syndrome: Insights From the International Takotsubo Registry.

open access: yesArteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology, 2019
OBJECTIVE Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) is characterized by acute left ventricular dysfunction, which can contribute to intraventricular thrombus and embolism.

The Mechanism and Potential Therapeutic Strategies of Vascular Aging

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
The phenotypes of vascular aging vary across different blood vessels. Endothelial dysfunction is observable in the endothelium of all vessels, while vascular structural remodeling primarily occurs in arteries. A decline in organ vascular density mainly affects arterioles, venules, and capillaries, whereas thrombosis predominantly occurs in the ...
