Predictors of Failed Thrombus Aspiration in Patients Undergoing Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

open access: yes, 2013
Background:Aspiration thrombectomy is recommended as an adjunctive method in patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), however, thrombus aspiration failure is relatively frequent.

Aspiration thrombectomy in a case of acute myocardial infarction due to coronary emboli in a patient with peripartum cardiomyopathy and mural thrombus

open access: yesHeart International, 2016
Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) due to embolic phenomenon in the setting of peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) and left ventricular mural thrombus is a rare occurrence. There have been two known cases described in medical literature. We present a unique case

Pulmonary Leukemic Infiltration in Relapsed Acute Myeloid Leukemia: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Pulmonary leukemic infiltration (PLI) is a rare complication of acute myeloid leukemia often misdiagnosed as pneumonia. This case highlights a unique presentation of PLI in a relapsed patient without hyperleukocytosis, necessitating a high index of suspicion.

Thrombus aspiration without additional ballooning or stenting to treat selected patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction

open access: yes, 2010
BACKGROUND: The use of thrombus aspiration during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is recommended in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing mechanical revascularization.

Endovascular treatment of iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis in pregnancy using US-guided percutaneous aspiration thrombectomy

open access: yesDiagnostic and Interventional Radiology, 2017
PURPOSE:We aimed to describe ultrasonography (US)-guided percutaneous aspiration thrombectomy in pregnant women with iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis.METHODS:This study included nine pregnant women with acute and subacute iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis,

Initial experience with a continuous mechanical aspiration system for thrombus removal before percutaneous coronary intervention.

open access: yes, 2022
Objectives: Here we investigate the safety and efficacy of a continuous mechanical aspiration system when used before percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).

PROTECT: PRoximal balloon Occlusion TogEther with direCt Thrombus aspiration during stent retriever thrombectomy - evaluation of a double embolic protection approach in endovascular stroke treatment.

open access: yes, 2017
PURPOSE Stent retriever-based mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for emergent large vessel occlusions (ELVO) is often complicated by thrombus fragmentation causing distal embolization and embolization to new vascular territories.

Thrombus aspiration in acute myocardial infarction

open access: yesInterventional Cardiology, 2013
Rupture of an atherosclerotic plaque is the principal mechanism responsible for the development of an acute coronary syndrome. Thrombus formation ensues rapidly on the surface of the injured endothelium. When the infarct vessel is completely occluded, ST-elevation myocardial infarction is diagnosed and urgent reperfusion is required.

Percutaneous thrombectomy of mural aortic thrombus using intravascular ultrasound guidance

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2019
Mural aortic thrombus is a challenging clinical problem with significant potential complications. Particularly precarious are situations with involvement of the visceral segment of the aorta. We describe a technique for percutaneous thrombectomy of mural
