“Go at throttle up”

2020
One year before Dick Truly’s statement, the Shuttle manifest for 1986 featured a demanding 15 launches, including 13 from the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) and the first two from Vandenberg Air Force Base (AFB) in California, as shown in Table 11.1.

Sewer Sideweir with Throttling Pipe

Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 1999
Sewer sideweirs in a combined sewer system are used for diversion of excess discharge during rainfalls. Their hydraulic performance depends significantly on the approach Froude number, the relative weir height, and the overflow length. The throttling pipe is a simple device to limit the discharge to treatment facilities.

Bioelectrochemical throttle of metabolism

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1969
Electrochemical principles indicate how living membranes may regulate the rate of a bioelectrochemical reaction. If this reaction is the rate limiting biochemical link in an electrogenic metabolic pathway, to regulate its rate is to regulate the pathway. This metabolic regulation is called the Bioelectrochemical throttle of metabolism.

Switching Stochastic Nonlinear Systems With Application to an Automotive Throttle

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2018
This paper presents results to assure the almost sure stability of switching stochastic nonlinear systems. The switching rule governing the parameters of the system is driven by independent and identically distributed random variables.

Experimental study on the effect of pressure and flow rate on cavitation in a poppet throttle valve

Industrial Lubrication and Tribology, 2019
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to study the variation of cavitation scale with pressure and flow in poppet throttle valve, to obtain the cavitation scale under pressure and flow conditions and to provide experimental support for the research of ...

Throttled and Full‐Throttle Tests

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1935
THE fact that the engine power in full‐throttle flight is governed by thermodynamic conditions involving the atmospheric pressure and temperature at the air intake; while the engine power in throttled flight is, by adjustment of the throttle position, entirely at the choice of the pilot, is the cause of certain fundamental differences in the correction

Throttle body: modelling and identification

Proceedings of the I MECH E Part D Journal of Automobile Engineering, 2001
Mathematical modelling of the throttle body air flow is one of the first steps in generating a generic spark ignition (SI) engine model for control-oriented development. Typically, the throttle body flow model is subdivided into components: a one-dimensional isentropic flow law, an empirically derived effective area component and a closed plate ...

NFV-Throttle: An Overload Control Framework for Network Function Virtualization

IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management, 2017
Network function virtualization (NFV) aims to provide high-performance network services through cloud computing and virtualization technologies. However, network overloads represent a major challenge.
