A strain‐activated mechanical metamaterial is developed to achieve programmable dual‐phase stiffness through an intrinsic geometric locking mechanism. Finite element modeling and parametric analysis identify the key design parameters governing activation strain, stiffness transition, and energy absorption.

Thrust++: Extending Thrust Framework for Better Abstraction and Performance
2017 IEEE 24th International Conference on High Performance Computing (HiPC), 2017A good design abstraction framework for high performance computing should provide a higher level programming abstraction that strikes a balance between the abstraction and visibility over the hardware so that the software developer can write a portable software without having to understand the hardware nuances, yet exploit the compute power optimally ...

The mechanics of initiation and development of thrust faults and thrust ramps
Mountain Geologist, 2022This study integrates the results of numerical modeling analyses based on outcrop studies and structural kinematic restorations to evaluate the mechanics of thrust fault initiation and development in mechanically layered sedimentary rocks. A field-based reconstruction of a mesoscopic thrust fault at Ketobe Knob in central Utah provides evidence of ...
