In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Low-thrust enabled highly non-Keplerian orbits in support of future Mars exploration
The technology of high specific impulse propulsion systems with low thrust is improving, opening up numerous possibilities for future missions applying continuous thrust to force a spacecraft out of a natural Keplerian orbit into a displaced non ...

Bridge-Pier Caisson foundations subjected to normal and thrust faulting:physical experiments versus numerical analysis [PDF]
Surface fault ruptures can inflict serious damage to engineering structures built on or near them. In the earthquakes of Kocaeli, Chi-chi, and Wenchuan a number of bridges were crossed by the emerging normal or thrust faults suffering various degrees of ...

Results of a regional tectonic model building concerning the zone of the Pre-Ural trough (Volga-Ural petroleum province) [PDF]
The results of geological and geophysical interpretation of new and retrospective regional seismic profiles are presented. This makes it possible to significantly elucidate the understanding of the structure and oil and gas potential of sedimentary cover

Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

Elasto-Hydrodynamic Lubrication Effect in Thrust-Slide Bearings of Scroll Compressors
This paper presents the concept of the Elasto-Hydrodynamic Lubrication (EHL) effect for the thrust slide-bearings in scroll compressors, which accounts for the superior lubrication characteristics of these bearings.

Low thrust propulsion in a coplanar circular restricted four body problem
This paper formulates a circular restricted four body problem (CRFBP), where the three primaries are set in the stable Lagrangian equilateral triangle configuration and the fourth body is massless.

A Dislocation Perspective on Strength and Toughness in Ceramics
Dislocations in ceramics enjoy a long but yet under‐appreciated history. The three research waves for dislocations in ceramics highlight the topic evolution over the last 90 years. This review focuses on the impact of dislocation on strength and toughness in ceramics.

Artificial halo orbits for low-thrust propulsion spacecraft
We consider periodic halo orbits about artificial equilibrium points near to the Lagrange points L1 and L2 in the circular restricted three-body problem, where the third body is a low-thrust propulsion spacecraft in the Sun-Earth system.

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.
