Thulium fiber laser damage to the ureter

SPIE Proceedings, 2015
Our laboratory is studying experimental thulium fiber laser (TFL) as a potential alternative lithotripter to the clinical gold standard Holmium:YAG laser. Safety studies characterizing undesirable Holmium laser-induced damage to ureter tissue have been previously reported.

All‐Fiber Dual‐Wavelength Thulium–Bismuth Codoped Fiber Laser

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2013
ABSTRACTWe report a room temperature all‐fiber dual‐wavelength Thulium–Bismuth codoped fiber laser operating in 1900 nm region using a single fiber Bragg grating (FBG) in a ring configuration. The addition of Bismuth ions as codopant in the gain medium enhances the inhomogeneous broadening effect in the fiber and thus allows a dual‐wavelength ...

Thulium fiber laser with wavelength 1908  nm

Journal of Optical Technology, 2017
This paper presents the results of developing a thulium fiber laser with output power 38 W and wavelength 1908 nm. The active fiber thus developed and fabricated has high thulium-ion concentration, which significantly increases the efficiency of the laser because of the cross-relaxation effect.

Mode-locked tunable thulium-doped fiber laser

SPIE Proceedings, 2017
We report on an all-fiber, actively mode-locked, tunable, Thulium-doped, fiber laser based on a 20-GHz bandwidth electro-optic intensity modulator (EOM) and a voltage driven 2-μm, intra-cavity, fiber-coupled, Fabry-Perot tunable filter (FFP-TF). The repetition rate of output pulses was 47 MHz and the shortest measured output pulse width was 445 ps.

Influence of Fiber Diameter on Thulium Fiber Laser Lithotripsy

European Conferences on Biomedical Optics 2025
The influence of fiber diameter on stone dusting and retropulsion during lithotripsy was investigated in single-pulse experiments with BegoStones and a pendulum-setup. It was found that thinner fibers ensure less retropulsion without reducing material removal.
