Unsupervised Characterization of Rain‐Induced Seismic Noise in Urban Fiber‐Optic Networks Using Deep Embedded Clustering

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) with preexisting telecommunication optical fibers (dark fibers) has shown its ability to record rain‐induced seismic noise with unprecedented high spatiotemporal resolution. This rain‐induced noise exhibits strong correlations with rainfall intensity and rainwater discharge in pipeline sewers, highlighting ...

Shielding of Unconventional High Surge Impedance Loading Transmission Lines

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper focuses on determining the optimal location and number of shield wires for a novel‐designed unconventional high surge impedance loading line. This line has a much lower surge impedance than conventional lines, raising key questions on the location of shield wires to meet an acceptable shielding failure rate (SFFOR).

The development of convective instability, wind shear, and vertical motion in relation to convection activity and synoptic systems in AVE 4 [PDF]

open access: yes
Data from the Fourth Atmospheric Variability Experiment were used to investigate conditions/factors responsible for the development (local time rate-of-change) of convective instability, wind shear, and vertical motion in areas with varying degrees of ...

Vulnerable knowledge: responding to the uncertainties of climate change‐related disaster

open access: yesDisasters, Volume 50, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract This paper uses uncertainty generated by environmental change and climate crisis as a prompt to rethink the concept of vulnerability within disaster studies. Where some have sought to recover a latent political potential in vulnerability, a togetherness founded in the disclosure of insecurities to others, we argue that there is value in ...

Lysine demethylase 4A is a centrosome‐associated protein required for centrosome integrity and genomic stability

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 2, Page 396-417, January 2026.
KDM4A, a chromatin eraser, localizes to the centrosomes. Its demethylase activity is essential for maintaining centrosome number and integrity, independent of gene expression changes. Loss of KDM4A leads to centrosome amplification, pseudo‐bipolar spindle formation, and chromosome segregation errors, including micronuclei and chromatin bridges.
