Powder NMR crystallography of thymol
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2009A protocol for the structure determination of powdered solids at natural abundance by NMR is presented and illustrated for the case of the small drug molecule thymol. The procedure uses proton spin-diffusion data from two-dimensional NMR experiments in combination with periodic DFT refinements incorporating (1)H and (13)C NMR chemical shifts.

Abandon the Thymol Turbidity Test
American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1974It is often more difficult to abandon an accepted laboratory test than to introduce a new one. In an attempt to convince our clinical staff that the thymol turbidity test had outlived its usefulness, we reviewed 2,557 “liver series” which included the TT. In 2,137 instances the TT agreed with the other tests and provided no different information.

USE OF THYMOL AS A PRESERVATIVE FOR FUNGI
Archives of Dermatology, 1953It is often of value to preserve the culture of a fungus for a long period of time. Such preservation not only furnishes the investigator with a permanent mount of the growth, but also allows the instructor to have access to cultures as life-like exhibits for use in demonstrating to his students.
