Variable var compensator circuits [PDF]
A family of two reactive-power compensator circuit is presented. A general model of some basic linear elements and switching function blocks is developed first. Then the two proposed compensator circuits are derived from the generalised model.

Faulted‐phase identification scheme for series‐compensated transmission lines during the power swing
To perform a fast faulted‐phase selection under the power swing in a series compensated line with a thyristor‐controlled series capacitor (TCSC) is an extreme challenge facing the transmission line protection schemes.

Subsynchronous resonance damping control of thyristor-controlled series capacitor [PDF]
A thyristor-controlled series capacitor (TCSC) substantially improves transmission capacity. It also mitigates subsynchronous resonance (SSR) accompanying conventional series capacitors. With an appropriate angle of thyristor firing, electrical damping becomes almost zero, which is called SSR neutral. This quality comes from TCSC itself.

Calculation of Frequency Response of Thyristor-Controlled Series Capacitor
AbstractIn this paper, we propose a method of analytically calculating an impedance of a thyristor‐controlled series capacitor (TCSC). The TCSC consists of a thyristor‐controlled reactor (TCR) and a capacitor. If a small voltage component of frequency f superimposes the TCSC voltage of frequency fo, then current components of frequency (nfo ± f) flow ...
