Sex Differences in Differentiated Thyroid Cancer.
Thyroid, 2021Sex dimorphism strongly impacts tumor biology with most cancers having a male predominance. Uniquely, thyroid cancer is the only non-reproductive cancer with striking female predominance with 3-4-fold higher incidence among females, although males ...

Cancer of the thyroid is not a rare form of malignant process. In our series of 15,522 thyroid operations on 12,946 patients, primary malignant disease of the thyroid gland was seen 314 times, an incidence of 2.4 per cent. During recent years our conception of the pathology and the treatment of thyroid cancer has materially changed.

The management of patients with thyroid cancer can be optimized by developing multidisciplinary groups of highly specialized individuals. The completeness of surgery and its morbidity are mostly surgeon-dependent. Similarly, the decisions regarding selection of adjuvant treatments, doses, follow-up schemes, and so forth require depth of knowledge and ...

INTRODUCTION SATISFACTORY treatment of cancer of the thyroid depends not upon static morphologic standards but on a dynamic concept based upon an understanding of the biologic characteristics of these tumors. The physician faced with the problem of thyroid malignancy needs the answers to questions regarding the functional and biologic potential rather ...
