ACSM5 Regulates Ferroptosis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma by Up‐Regulating POR and Modulating Lipid Metabolism

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
ACSM5 induced ferroptosis in HCC by up‐regulating cytochrome P450 oxidoreductase (POR). The metabolic transformation of linoleic acid to arachidonic acid was also promoted by ACSM5; thereby, the sensitivity to ferroptosis was elevated. ABSTRACT The medium‐chain fatty acyl‐CoA synthetase‐5 (ACSM5) plays a crucial role in the development of some cancers.

Polarity Gene PARD6B Promotes Tumor Growth of Colorectal Cancer via Increasing MYC Expression

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Partitioning Defective 6B (PARD6B), a polarity gene, functions as a scaffold node for the Par protein complex. In this study, we showed that highly expressed PARD6B could promote CRC growth by upregulating MYC expression while suppressing miR‐34c expression.

Epigenetically‐Upregulated CD98 Shed Light on the Precancerous Diagnosis and Prognosis Prediction of Esophageal Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
This study confirmed that hypomethylation‐induced upregulation of CD98 promoted ESCC cell proliferation by regulating the cell cycle and was correlated with poorer overall survival of ESCC patients. Combined panels of immunohistochemistry (CD98 and P53) are recommended for accurate diagnosis of esophageal precancerous lesions.

Society for Endocrinology Clinical Practice Guideline for the Evaluation of Androgen Excess in Women

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Context Androgen excess is common in women and refers to clinical or biochemical evidence of elevated androgenic steroids such as testosterone. It is associated with underlying polycystic ovary syndrome in the majority of cases. However severe androgen excess is less common and may indicate the presence of underlying adrenal or ovarian ...

Combining Procalcitonin and Calcitonin for the Diagnosis of Medullary Thyroid Cancer: A Two‐Step Approach

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Calcitonin (CT) represents the most important biochemical marker of medullary thyroid cancer (MTC), but has certain limits. Procalcitonin (ProCT) has been recognized as an alternative or additional marker for MTC. The aim of the study is to evaluate prospectively the role of ProCT combined with CT in the identification of MTC ...
