Abstract Between November, 1966, and March, 1970, 2736 patients with single thyroid nodules were investigated at the Alexandra Hospital. Females were more frequently affected than males, with a ratio of females to males of about 7:1. The right lobe was one and a half times more frequently involved than the left.

Thyroid benign lymphoepithelial lesions are rare in adults, reported as associated with thyroiditis or adjacent to tumours. Here we report a unique case of a thyroid solid nodule with benign lymphoepithelial morphology. A 56-year-old woman presented with a thyroid nodule increasing in size. Thyroid function was normal.
