Multiomics identifies the link between intratumor steatosis and the exhausted tumor immune microenvironment in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Steatotic HCC can be diagnosed by MRI and forms a pro‐tumor immune microenvironment with high expression of PD‐L1, M2 polarization of macrophages and activation of CAFs, which may be a good target for combined immunotherapy. Abstract Background and Aims Immunotherapy has become the standard‐of‐care treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but its ...

A Case Series Study on Thyroid Autotransplantation. [PDF]

open access: yesAin-Shams Journal of Surgery
Introduction: Total thyroidectomy is a common surgery nowadays, yet the use of long-life replacement therapyhas its complications. Thyroid autotransplantation helps to reach a euthyroid state with an autoregulatorymechanism of the grafted thyroid tissue ...

Nanocellulose Alleviates Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy via Gut Microbiota‐Mediated Bile Acid Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanocellulose, derived from microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) through sulfuric acid hydrolysis or mechanical grinding to produce CNC or CNF, was tested in a rat ICP model. Particularly, CNF improved gut microbiota composition, reduced secondary bile acid metabolism, and restored bile acid homeostasis through modulation of the gut–liver axis.

Thyroid “claw sign” a useful diagnostic marker in the outsized lesions of isthmus: A large colloid cyst.

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2021
Thyroid isthmus lesions are generally small sized and can be solid or cystic. Discerning isthmic origin of a large nodule, especially if purely cystic, can become a diagnostic challenge because of thin thyroid tissue in it.

Lithium as an Adjuvant in the Postoperative Ablation of Remnant Tissue in Low-Risk Thyroid Carcinoma

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Thyroid remnant ablation (RA) with 30 mCi of radioactive iodine (I-131) in patients thyroidectomized for treatment of low-risk differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) has a success rate of 64% to 84%.

3D Large‐Scale Subwavelength‐Resolution Sound Sheet Tomography Based on an Active and Programmable Circular Meta‐Array

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A programmable 2048‐element circular ultrasound array combined with a compact acoustic lens produces a thin “sound sheet” over a large field of view, and records echoes with wide angular diversity across the ring aperture. Coherence‐enhanced beamforming converts full‐matrix data into high‐contrast tomographic slices, delivering near‐diffraction‐limited

Thallium-201 scan in evaluating thyroid nodules following equivocal fine-needle aspiration cytology

open access: yes, 2006
Summary:The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate the usefulness of the thallium-201 (201Tl) thyroid scan in the detection of malignancy in cold thyroid nodules whose status was equivocal following palpation fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC).

The Development and Pilot Clinical Study of CD147 Targeted Antagonistic Peptide Probe for Tumor Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study establishes [68Ga]Ga‐DOTA‐AP9 as a first‐in‐human CD147‐targeted PET tracer with favorable safety and specific tumor uptake. Tracer accumulation correlates with CD147 expression in patients, enabling noninvasive quantification of CD147‐positive malignancies.

BIN1 and ALDH1B1 Deficiency in Colonic Smooth Muscle Drives Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Fibrosis in Slow‐Transit Constipation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Slow‐transit constipation (STC) is a disabling motility disorder with unclear smooth‐muscle mechanisms. Spatial proteomic analysis of STC patient colon reveals both the central pathogenic role of smooth muscle cells (SMCs) in STC and novel regulators of intestinal motility, BIN1 and ALDH1B1.
