Tissue‐Stimulator Platform for Electrically Stimulating Pancreatic β‐Cells for Long‐Term Functional Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a tissue‐stimulator platform for seamless electrode integration with pancreatic tissue, applying uniform electrical stimulation through optimized design with biohybrid 3D printing. Advantageous effects of electrical stimulation on β‐cell function were observed, including enhanced calcium signaling, islet morphology, and maturation.

A Positive Newborn Screen for Congenital Hypothyroidism in a Clinically Euthyroid Neonate—Avoiding Unnecessary Treatment

open access: yesInternational Journal of Neonatal Screening, 2023
Newborn screening for congenital hypothyroidism (CH) has dramatically improved the neurocognitive outcomes for newborns with a confirmed positive screening test result. However, screening yields a small number of false positive and false negative results.

Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

Body composition indices align with thyroid variation in euthyroid Saudi adults: A cross-sectional study

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research
Objective Although associations between obesity and thyroid function have been widely reported, few studies have examined euthyroid (clinically normal) adults using both bioelectrical impedance-derived body composition measures and clinically accessible ...

A Signaling Network of Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Proteomics & Bioinformatics, 2011
Human thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) is a glycoprotein secreted by the anterior part of the pituitary gland. TSH plays an important physiological role in the regulation of hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis by modulating the release of the thyroid hormones from the thyroid gland.

Malectin Alleviates Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus via Glycoprotein Quality Control Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Malectin alleviates high glucose‐induced ER stress and damage in placental trophoblasts, a function dependent on its six critical carbohydrate‐binding residues. In a GDM mouse model, administration of TAT‐Malectin ameliorated hyperglycemia and placental ER stress and prevented fetal macrosomia.

Amiodarone-induced thyroid dysfunction masking a resistance to thyroid hormone diagnosis in an Octogenarian with cardiac manifestations

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Translational Endocrinology Case Reports, 2023
Background: Resistance to thyroid hormone (RTH) syndrome is a rare clinical condition and manifests biochemically as persistent hyperthyroxinemia with unsuppressed thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels.
