In a 5‐year period we treated 233 patients referred to us with a thyroid swelling. Among them, 39 patients (17%) had a malignant tumor. Seventy‐eight percent of the patients were women. The preoperative examination procedure is discussed. Preoperatively, recurrent nerve palsy was found in 2.6% of patients with benign tumors and in 28% of patients with ...

Various remote access robotic thyroidectomy techniques have been developed using the da Vinci® surgical system (Intuitive Surgical Inc., Sunnyvale, CA) to hide or avoid neck scarring and overcome the limitations of endoscopic thyroidectomy. Among those used today are the gasless transaxillary approach, the bilateral axillo-breast approach (BABA), the ...

AbstractReoperative thyroid surgery is an uncommon operation associated with a high complication rate. We retrospectively reviewed the data of 115 patients to study the incidence of complications after reoperative thyroid surgery. There were 107 women and 8 men (13.4:1.0) with an average age of 42.8 years (range 18–80 years).

COMPLICATIONS OF THYROID SURGERY*
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1956The various complications of thyroid surgery have long been known to surgeons embarking on the surgical treatment of goiter. Hyperthyroidism is the most commonly diagnosed endocrine disease in cats. Surgery is a widely available curative therapy for hyperthyroid cats. Because of the multiple metabolic changes associated with hyperthyroidism, surgical management can be challenging. Multiple methods of thyroidectomy and their associated levels of morbidity are reviewed.

[New technologies in thyroid surgery. Endoscopic thyroid surgery].
Minerva chirurgica, 2007The onset of cervicoscopy dates back to the first endoscopic parathyroidectomy in 1996. This operation, along with its several variants, has become a valid option widespread in many important centres. Later on, endoscopic or video assisted thyroidectomy was introduced in spite of the limits imposed by the mass of the gland to remove.

Complications Following Thyroid Surgery
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1991The incidence of severe complications following thyroid gland surgery is a major reason to recommend total thyroidectomy or a less radical procedure in treating thyroid gland diseases. A retrospective study on 335 thyroidectomies was performed to assess the incidence of postoperative complications.
