Complications after medullary thyroid carcinoma surgery: multicentre study of the SQRTPA and EUROCRINE® databases

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
This study investigated postoperative complications after surgery for medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) in Europe. Hypoparathyroidism, recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy and bleeding requiring reoperation occurred in 170 (26·2 per cent), 62 (13·7 per cent) and 17 (2·6 per cent) patients respectively.

Disruption of NF‐κB‐Mediated Copper Homeostasis Sensitizes Breast Cancer to Cuproptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a feedback mechanism regulating copper homeostasis, in which copper directly interacts with TAK1 to activate NF‐κB signaling, while NF‐κB transcriptionally suppresses copper transporter (CTR1) expression. These findings highlight a promising therapeutic strategy for breast cancer by combining NF‐κB inhibitors with copper chelators or

Long-term survival outcomes of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in stage II-III HR+/HER2- breast cancer

open access: yesScientific Reports
Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor among women worldwide. Hormone receptor-positive/HER2-negative (HR+/HER2-) breast cancer is the largest subgroup among these cases.

Spatial Transcriptomics Reveals Transcriptomic and Immune Microenvironment Reprogramming during Thyroid Carcinoma Dedifferentiation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Spatial transcriptomic analysis of Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC)‐differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) coexisting tumors reveals that coexisting DTC regions with ATC‐like genomic alterations undergo sequential transcriptomic reprogramming and immune microenvironment remodeling, ultimately evolving into a full ATC pathological phenotype.

Total Parathyroidectomy with Subcutaneous Parathyroid Forearm Autotransplantation in the Treatment of Secondary Hyperparathyroidism: A Single-Center Experience. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Introduction Secondary hyperparathyroidism is common in chronic kidney disease. Parathyroidectomy is indicated in refractory hyperparathyroidism when medical treatments and so the parathyroid hormone levels cannot be lowered to acceptable values without

Genetic and Functional Evidence Links Germline Biallelic Inactivating Variants in WWOX to Histological Mixed‐Type Thyroid Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The role of germline WWOX loss‐of‐function variants in oncogenesis has remained poorly characterized. This study provides the first comprehensive genetic and functional evidence that such variants promote tumorigenesis through the disruption of multiple tumor‐suppressive mechanisms.

Recurrent Hormone Receptor–Positive Breast Cancer With Multiple Sites of Distant Metastasis: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

open access: yesInternational Journal of Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is one of the most common malignancies and the leading cause of cancer-related mortality among women worldwide, with hormone receptor–positive (HR+) breast cancer being the most common subtype. Current guidelines recommend endocrine therapy
