The value of regeneration for insect fauna associated with leaf litter in the Brazilian savanna: A comparative study of biomass and trophic structure

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, Volume 188, Issue 3, Page 875-888, May 2026.
This study demonstrates the ecological value of natural regeneration in the Brazilian Cerrado by analysing the biomass, richness and trophic structure of leaf litter insects across pasture (P), regenerating (R) and native (N) areas. We found that R areas supported insect communities more similar to N habitats than to Ps, with higher richness, greater ...

A systematic review on research trends and commercialised entomopathogenic nematodes: A global perspective

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 298-313, May 2026.
Out of 136 identified EPNs, only 18 (8 Steinernema and 6 Heterorhabditis) are commercialised globally, highlighting a major gap between discovery and application. High production costs and inconsistent field efficacy are the leading obstacles to the widespread commercialisation of EPN‐based biocontrol products.

A Global, Taxon‐Stratified, High‐Resolution Sampling‐Effort Dataset From GBIF for Bias‐Aware Ecological Modelling

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 32, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction and Aim Spatiotemporal and taxonomic sampling bias in biodiversity occurrence data poses critical challenges for robust ecological inference, species distribution models (SDMs), and conservation planning. Despite the exponential growth in global biodiversity records over recent decades, these biases persist.

Spectral Characterization of the Life Stages and Physiological Responses of Diatraea saccharalis Fabricius (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) Larvae Parasitized by Cotesia flavipes Cameron (Hymenoptera: Braconidae)

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 5, Page 436-452, May 2026.
Hyperspectral proximal sensing was used to characterize the life stages and physiological responses of Diatraea saccharalis and to detect parasitism by Cotesia flavipes. Distinct spectral signatures differentiated eggs, larval instars, pupae, and adults, as well as live, dead, and parasitized larvae.
