A nanosecond laser is used to fabricate groove-patterned textures on the upper surface of Ti-6Al-4V alloys, and then molybdic sulfide solid lubricants are filled into the grooves. The treated titanium alloy is subjected to friction and wear tests.

Sol–gel‐derived ZnO–rGO hybrid nanoparticles enable Al7075 powder‐metallurgy composites to achieve concurrent gains in hardness and thermal conductivity while markedly lowering friction and wear. The hybrid architecture couples ZnO‐based load support with rGO‐assisted lamellar sliding and heat spreading, revealing a promising route toward lightweight ...

Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy products formed by selective laser melting (SLM) are characterized by high strength and low plasticity. In addition, there may be pores inside the material, which may become a fracture sprouting point and accelerate the failure ...

X‐ray computed tomography reveals how process‐induced defects evolve from green to sintered states in Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)‐manufactured 17‐4PH stainless steel. Internal porosity, weakest cross‐sections, and fracture locations show strong correlation with tensile performance, demonstrating the potential of computed tomography (CT)‐based ...

Nitrogen and fatigue on Ti-6Al-4V
The work in this thesis was designed to aid the understanding of the effect of the ingress of nitrogen on diffusion bonded super plastically formed structures manufactured from the ubiquitous titanium alloy - Ti-6Al-4V. This wasn’t an abstract question but one originating from a desire to improve the communities knowledge of the integrity of in-service

Abstract Additively manufactured (3D‐printed) surgical reconstruction implants are increasingly encountered in head and neck oncology and may introduce density assignment challenges during radiotherapy treatment planning. This case report describes a clinically significant dosimetric discrepancy arising from the application of nominal bulk material ...

Mixing‐Driven Defects and Composition Evolution in Multi‐Material Metal Additive Manufacturing
Operando synchrotron X‐ray imaging coupled with high‐fidelity multiphysics modeling uncovers how inter‐material mixing reshapes keyhole dynamics and drives distinct pore‐formation pathways in multi‐material laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). Composition‐dependent instabilities trigger defects, whereas rescanning suppresses porosity and homogenizes Cu ...
