Effect of UV irradiation on the surface Gibbs energy of Ti6Al4V and thermally oxidized Ti6Al4V
Thermal oxidation of Ti6Al4V increases the thickness, modifies the structure, and changes the amount of alloying elements of the surface titanium dioxide layer with respect to the spontaneous passive layer of Ti6Al4V. The effects on the surface properties of Ti6Al4V and thermally oxidized Ti6Al4V after different periods of UV irradiation have been ...

Functional bimetallic joints of Ti6Al4V to SS410 [PDF]
Bimetallic structures provide a unique solution to achieve site-specific functionalities and enhanced-property capabilities in engineering structures but suffer from bonding compatibility issues. Materials such as titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V) and stainless steel (SS410) have distinct attractive properties but are impossible to reliably weld together using ...

The work demonstrates that strategic wall‐thickness grading in diamond triply periodic minimal surface lattices enables precise tuning of deformation and failure behavior under compression. Different gradation patterns guide how and where the structure collapses, improving energy absorption or promoting controlled brittle failure.

Dynamic shear localization in Ti6Al4V
AbstractThe alloy Ti6Al4V is known to be prone to the formation of adiabatic shear bands when dynamically loaded in shear. This causes a catastrophic decrease of the load carrying capacity and is usually followed by fracture. Although, the main mechanism is recognized to be the competition between strain hardening and thermal softening, a detailed ...

This study examines how pore shape and manufacturing‐induced deviations affect the mechanical properties of 3D‐printed lattice materials with constant porosity. Combining µ‐CT analysis, FEM, and compression testing, the authors show that structural imperfections reduce stiffness and strength, while bulk material inhomogeneities probably enhance ...

Strength analyses of screws for femoral neck fractures [PDF]
This article represents a multidisciplinary approach to biomechanics (engineering + medicine) in the field of "collum femoris" fractures. One possible treatment method for femoral neck fractures, especially for young people, is the application of ...
