Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...

Exploratory study of elevated-temperature tensile properties of alloys based on the intermetallic compound TiNi [PDF]
The tensile properties and oxygen contamination behavior of TiNi alloyed with aluminum, chromium, and silicon were investigated in the temperature range between 800 and 1000 K (980 and 1340 F).

In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

Development of hydrogen resistant alloys [PDF]
The most hostile operating environments in the O2/H2 Space Shuttle Main Engine are gaseous hydrogen and hydrogen/water vapor. After years of evaluating commercially available alloys, only a few high strength alloys have been found that perform ...

Shot peening for Ti-6Al-4V alloy compressor blades [PDF]
A text program was conducted to determine the effects of certain shot-peening parameters on the fatigue life of the Ti-6Al-4V alloys as well as the effect of a demarcation line on a test specimen.
