Structural Characterization of Alloyed Al/Ti and Ti Contacts on SiC
Materials Science Forum, 2004In this work a structural characterisation of Al-rich (72 wt. % Al) Al/Ti alloyed electrical contact on SiC is presented and compared with that obtained on Ti alloyed contacts. Rutherford Back Scattering in the Channelling mode (RBS-C) and Transmission Electron Microscopy of cross-sectioned specimens (XTEM) in various analysis modes were used as ...

Microstructure and micro-texture evolution of additively manufactured β-Ti alloys
Additive Manufacturing, 2018This study focuses on the microstructural evolution in additively manufactured (AM) β titanium alloys due to solid-state phase transformations occurring during the reheating of previously deposited layers, directly influencing the uniformity of ...

Explosive consolidation of mechanically alloyed Ti-Al alloys
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 1997Abstract Ti-Al intermetallics are of great interest because of their attractive mechanical properties, but they require advanced processing methods, due to their low ductility at room temperature. In this work, the following processes were employed in order to obtain bulk TiAl and Ti3Al intermetallics: (1) mechanical alloying: ball milling of ...

Structural evolution of mechanically alloyed TiAl alloys
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 1992Abstract Two titanium alloys with 24 and 50 at.% Al respectively, were mechanically alloyed in a steel vial with hardened steel balls using a Spex 8000 mixer-mill. The sequence of phases formed has been investigated by both X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy.

Synthesis of Mg-Ti alloy by mechanical alloying
Journal of Materials Science, 2003Mg-based Mg-Ti binary alloys have been synthesized by mechanical alloying of Mg and Ti powder blends. It was found that mechanical alloying of Mg and Ti results in a nanocrystalline Mg-Ti alloy and an extended solubility of Ti in Mg, due to the favorable size factor and the isomorphous structure of Mg and Ti.

Synthesis of Ti–Fe alloys by mechanical alloying
Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2007Abstract In this work, the TiFe single phase alloy with CsCl-type structure was synthesized after 20 h of ball milling (mechanical alloying). Alloying process of mixture of Ti and Fe powders to the TiFe phase was discussed. It was found that synthesis of the CsCl-type TiFe phase followed the amorphous phase formation.

Oxidation of Ti-1Si and Ti-5Si alloys
Oxidation of Metals, 1982Oxidation kinetics of Ti-1 wt. % Si and Ti-5 wt. % Si alloys in either pure oxygen or air under a pressure of 0.93 bar and in the temperature range of 1171–1473 K are reported. For the exposure period investigated (up to 12 h) both alloys oxidized slower than pure Ti. The amount of oxygen dissolved in the Ti-1 wt. % Si alloy has been calculated.

Magnetostriction of Fe-Ti Alloys
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2010Longitudinal and transverse magnetostriction measurements were performed on polycrystalline Fe100- xTix alloys, for a large Ti concentration range, from x = 8.8 to 34.7 at.%. Our results showed that substituting Fe by Ti does not significantly enhance the magnetostriction.
