Mechanical Properties of TiAl and TiAl-Base Alloys
1996Titanium forms three intermetallic compounds with aluminum. They are Ti3AI, TiAl and Al3Ti with crystal structures of the DO19, L10 and D022 types, respectively. They are superlattice structures based on geometrically close-packed h.c.p. and f.c.c. structures.

Hardness measurement of (TiB2−TiAl)/TiAl symmetrically function gradient materials
Journal of Wuhan University of Technology-Mater. Sci. Ed., 2002(TiB2−TiAl)/TiAl symmetrically function gradient materials (FGM) were prepared by spark plasma sintering (SPS). Owing to the difference of the thermal expansion coefficients between TiB2 and TiAl, a compressive surface stress was introduced to the FGM by the thermal expansion mismatch.

Preparation of TiAl/Mo and TiAl/NiAl composites by powder processing
Journal of Materials Science, 1997Processes for preparing TiAl/Mo and TiAl/NiAl composites are described and results of the investigation are reported. It was found that the hardness of the TiAl/NiAl composites was largely influenced by the amount of hard ternary phases formed through reactions between TiAl and NiAl.

Influence of nanolayered Ti/Al, Ni/Ti and Ni/Al interlayers on the structure of welds of ??-TiAl-base alloys made by vacuum diffusion bonding was studied. It is shown that when using nanolayered interlayers of a composition differing from that of the welded alloy, additional annealing is required for lowering the degree of chemical inhomogeneity in the

The intermetallic compound, TiAl, and materials based on it have been receiving considerable attention because of their high specific strengths at elevated temperatures. Their mechanical properties are being extensively studied, with a view to application in aircraft or automobile engines.

Interface Dislocations in TiAl
Materials Science Forum, 1998The interfaces of lamellar structure in γ-phase TiAl are analysed. The misfit between 120° rotation domains with the ordered L1 0 lattice on the (111) plane, and the arrays of interface intrinsic dislocations observed by transmission electron microscopy are investigated.

Oxidation of TiAl intermetallic
Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics, 2007The oxidation kinetics of TiAl intermetallic at 500–900 °C in air is studied using a gravimetric method, and the phase composition of the scale is studied using an x-ray phase analysis. At t > 600 °C, the kinetics of oxidation is described by a parabolic equation. The oxides TiO2 (rutile), γ-Al2O3, α-Al2O3, Ti2O3 are found in the scale.

Deformation mechanisms in nanotwinned γ-TiAl by molecular dynamics simulation
Molecular Simulation, 2018In this work, the plastic deformation mechanisms and fracture toughness of nanotwinned γ-TiAl with different twin boundary (TB) spacing are investigated by using molecular dynamics simulation.
