On K-Stability of Reductive Varieties

open access: yes, 2003
G. Tian and S.K. Donaldson formulated a conjecture relating GIT stability of a polarized algebraic variety to the existence of a Kahler metric of constant scalar curvature.

Pediatric Patient With a Giant Vertebrobasilar Dissecting Aneurysm Successfully Treated With Three Pipeline Embolization Devices

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2020
Pediatric intracranial dissecting aneurysms are rare (1), and treating this type of aneurysm in the vertebrobasilar circulation is more difficult. As an off-label application, pipeline embolization devices (PEDs) for posterior circulation dissecting ...

Bioengineered 3D hPSC‐Cholangiocyte Ducts With Physiological Signals for Biliary Disease Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Tian and colleagues generated a bioengineered bile duct from human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)‐derived intrahepatic cholangiocytes within a high‐throughput, 384‐well platform to systematically examine the influence of biliary physiological signals including fluid flow, stromal cells and bile acids, and models intrahepatic biliary disease progression ...

Plasmonic Enhancement of Fluorescence and Protein Dynamics in Living Mammalian Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates plasmonic enhancement of the function of fluorescent voltage sensing proteins (genetically encoded voltage indicators, (GEVIs), QuasAr6) in live mammalian cells. Coupling to plasmonic nanoparticles does not just increase fluorescence, but influences the protein photocycle, creating a hybrid sensor with its response speed to ...

Crystal Growth Engineering for Dendrite‐Free Zinc Metal Plating

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This research employed the rare‐earth ion dysprosium (Dy) to modulate aqueous zinc (Zn) metal plating. Integrated multiscale experiments and computational modeling unveiled the preferential adsorption of Dy on specific crystal facets, which activated screw dislocation‐driven Zn growth.

Spin‐Orbit Torque Induced by Switchable Crystal Inversion Symmetry Breaking

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An exotic crystal inversion symmetry breaking in SrRuO3/BiFeO3 heterostructure is revealed, and it can be reversibly manipulated by the ferroelectric polarization of BiFeO3. This crystal inversion symmetry breaking can dramatically enhance the spin‐orbit torque efficiency in the SrRuO3 layer by more than 60%, providing an alternative to design an ...

Backbone Engineering of Carbon‐Centered NHC‐Derived Diradicals: From Electronic State Tuning to High‐Performance Organic Field‐Effect Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The open‐shell nature of diradicals facilitates charge separation, and compounds with moderate diradical character demonstrate remarkable potential in organic field‐effect transistors (OFET) applications due to their low reorganization energies for hole and electron transport.
