Therapeutic ultrasound as an aid in tibial fracture management in a dog [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A six-year-old, male, neutered Bernese mountain dog was presented with acute left hind limb lameness. Based on the symptoms, orthopedic examination and radiographic evaluation, a cranial cruciate ligament rupture was diagnosed.

ROS Activated NETosis of Bone Marrow CD55+ Intermediate Mature Neutrophils Through HIF1α‐PADI4 Pathway to Initiate Bone Aging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, we find CD55+ neutrophils show activated NETosis within bone marrow, induce BMSC senescence and osteogenesis inhibition, finally leading to bone aging initiation. Mechanistically, ROS synergizes with the CD55‐driven HIF1α‐PADI4 pathway to promote NETosis.

Myeloid p38 activation maintains macrophage–liver crosstalk and BAT thermogenesis through IL‐12–FGF21 axis

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Physiological activation of myeloid p38 controls macrophage IL‐12 production and crosstalk to the liver by modulating hepatic FGF21, and subsequently, brown adipose tissue thermogenesis during obesity Abstract Obesity features excessive fat accumulation in several body tissues and induces a state of chronic low‐grade inflammation that contributes to ...

Influence of tibial slope on extension and flexion gaps in total knee arthroplasty: increasing the tibial slope affects both gaps [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Orthopaedics, 2014
Increasing the tibial slope is often performed if the flexion gap is narrower than the extension gap. The main hypothesis of this study is that increasing the tibial slope coincidentally enlarges the extension gap.Twenty formalin-fixed cadaveric knees were obtained for study.

Biocatalytic Nanoregulators Restore Joint Redox‐Immune Homeostasis in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stem cell‐derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) coat ruthenium‐loaded metal‐organic frameworks (Ru@ZrMOF), creating a targeted therapeutic (Ru@ZrMOF/EVs). This platform scavenges ROS, generates oxygen, and polarizes macrophages from M1 to M2, alleviating inflammation, inhibiting pannus, promoting cartilage repair, and downregulating HIF‐1α ...

Single-Stage Primary Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction With Slope-Reducing Anterior Closing-Wedge Proximal Tibial Osteotomy and a Lateral Extra-Articular Tenodesis

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears with known risk factors for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) graft failure, such as elevated posterior tibial slope ≥12°, require a comprehensive treatment approach.

A real 3D measurement technique for the tibial slope: differentiation between different articular surfaces and comparison to radiographic slope measurement

open access: yesBMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, 2020
Background The tibial slope plays an important role in knee surgery. However, standard radiographic measurement techniques have a low reproducibility and do not allow differentiation between medial and lateral articular surfaces.

Nonlinear Elastic Material Property Estimation of Lower Extremity Residual Limb Tissues [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The interface stresses between the residual limb and prosthetic socket have been studied to investigate prosthetic fit. Finite-element models of the residual limb-prosthetic socket interface facilitate investigation of the mechanical interface and may ...

Tailoring Vascular‐Immune Homeostasis via Manganese‐DNA Complex‐Armed Immunogenic Extracellular Vesicles for Pancreatic Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that Mn2⁺–tumor DNA complexes encapsulated in dendritic cell (DC)– derived immunogenic extracellular vesicles (EVDC@Mn‐DNA) act as a DC‐specific cGAS– STING activator. EVDC@Mn‐DNA treatment enhances intratumoral DC activation, improves tumor vascular function, promotes CD8⁺ T cell activity, and suppresses pancreatic tumor growth,

Factors influencing the posterior tibial slope after medial opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy. [PDF]

open access: yesFront Bioeng Biotechnol
IntroductionMedial Opening-wedge High Tibial Osteotomy (HTO) is an effective treatment for medial compartment osteoarthritis and knee varus in relatively young and active patients. While it can effectively correct lower limb alignment in the coronal plane, it may also affect the posterior tibial slope (PTS) in the sagittal plane.
