Accelerated Fatigue Life Estimation of An Axle Housing

open access: yesInternational Journal of Automotive Science and Technology
In this study, the fatigue test time of an axle housing was aimed to decrease by increasing the testing load without having permanent deformation on the housing. In this concern, the deformation values of the banjo zone of a heavy-duty commercial vehicle

Prognostic Implications of Sleep Architecture for Patients Admitted to the Intensive Care Unit With Status Epilepticus

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Status epilepticus (SE) is associated with significant mortality. Sleep architecture may reflect normal brain function. Impaired sleep architecture is associated with poorer outcomes in numerous conditions. Here we investigate the association of sleep architecture in continuous EEG (cEEG) with survival in SE.

Health-risk assessment based on an additive to paints made from isobutyric aldehyde condensation products

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2017
Solvents are primarily used for making protective coatings. Considering their chemical nature, there are a great variety of coatings, including those based on liquid hydrocarbons and organic chloroderivatives.

High-resolution spatial mapping of a superconducting NbN wire using single-electron detection

open access: yes, 2009
Superconducting NbN wires have recently received attention as detectors for visible and infrared photons. We present experiments in which we use a NbN wire for high-efficiency (40 %) detection of single electrons with keV energy.

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

Benchmarking Treatment Response in Tourette’s Disorder: A Psychometric Evaluation and Signal Detection Analysis of the Parent Tic Questionnaire [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This study assessed the psychometric properties of a parent-reported tic severity measure, the Parent Tic Questionnaire (PTQ), and used the scale to establish guidelines for delineating clinically significant tic treatment response. Participants were 126

A randomized controlled trial comparing behavioral, educational, and pharmacological treatments in youths with chronic tic disorder or Tourette syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Context: The existing literature on the treatment of pediatric chronic tic disorder (CTD) and Tourette syndrome (TS) indicates that both behavioral therapy (BT) and pharmacotherapy (PT) are effective for reducing symptoms.

Production of MgO/TiC Composites From MgO‐C Recyclates Using Spark Plasma Sintering

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Using the spark plasma sintering technique, MgO/TiC composites are manufactured from recycled MgO‐C refractories stemming from the steel production that were mixed with titanium powder. This article shows, how the size of the Ti grains and their distribution in the powder mixture affect the local carbon concentration in TiC.
