Theta‐Gamma Subthalamic Stimulation for Verbal Fluency in Parkinson's Disease: A Randomized, Crossover Trial

open access: yesMovement Disorders, Volume 40, Issue 6, Page 1189-1194, June 2025.
Abstract Background High‐frequency deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the subthalamic nucleus (STN) improves Parkinson's disease (PD) motor symptoms but may deteriorate verbal fluency (VF). Theta stimulation showed potential cognitive benefits associated with motor worsening. Objectives This randomized, double‐blind, crossover study evaluated the efficacy

Evaluating Problematic Smartphone Use Among Chinese Primary School Students Using SABAS: An IRT and Network Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Methods in Psychiatric Research, Volume 34, Issue 2, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Objectives This study assessed the psychometric properties of the Smartphone Application‐Based Addiction Scale (SABAS) among Chinese primary school students, focusing on validity, reliability, and factor structure using Item Response Theory (IRT) and Network Analysis (NA). Methods Data were collected from 1108 primary school students in China (

Exploratory study of dual‐task digital device in children and adolescents with attention‐deficit/hyperactivity disorder

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences Reports, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2025.
This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of SDT‐001, a digital therapeutic, in Japanese children and adolescents with attention‐deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The SDT‐001 group tended to show a greater change from baseline in the ADHD‐RS‐IV scores than the single‐task group, but this difference was not statistically significant ...

Electroconvulsive therapy for depression and oral dyskinesia in a patient who developed parkinsonism induced by valbenazine

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences Reports, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract Background Tardive dyskinesia (TD) is a movement disorder related to long‐term antipsychotic use and characterized by involuntary repetitive movements that often affect the oral and facial muscles. Although valbenazine, a vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) inhibitor, is an effective treatment of TD, it may induce drug‐induced ...

Electroconvulsive therapy for an older patient with schizophrenia complicated by nonconvulsive status epilepticus during catatonia: A case report

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences Reports, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract Background Nonconvulsive status epilepticus (NCSE) can present with symptoms resembling catatonia, such as stupor, staring, and immobility. Distinguishing between the two conditions using electroencephalography (EEG) is crucial. However, reports of NCSE coexisting with catatonia are rare.

Pulsed Electrochemical Exfoliation for an HF‐Free Sustainable MXene Synthesis

open access: yesSmall, Volume 21, Issue 22, June 5, 2025.
Synthesizing MXenes using NaBF4/HCl and cathodic pulsing. This approach demonstrates the key role of cathodic pulse, which imposes bubble formation on the electrode, resulting in operando surface reactivation. Thus, the methodology demonstrates high‐quality HF‐free MXenes with up to 60% yield, paving the way for green industrialization.

Activated mTOR Signaling in the RPE Drives EMT, Autophagy, and Metabolic Disruption, Resulting in AMD‐Like Pathology in Mice

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 6, June 2025.
Our study reveals that overactivation of both mTOR complexes through mLST8 in RPE cells triggers AMD‐like pathology and cellular dysfunction. This finding highlights the critical role of balanced mTOR signaling in retinal health and suggests that targeting both complexes could be therapeutic for AMD treatment.

Deep Characterization of Isomerization in the Human Eye Lens Proteome by Crystallin‐Depleted Data‐Independent Acquisition

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 6, June 2025.
Long‐lived proteins can undergo spontaneous isomerization over time. By examining proteins in the eye lens, we quantified isomerization at aspartic acid, serine, histidine, and glutamic acid residues and identified both age‐dependent and structure‐dependent correlations.

Children With Sydenham Chorea and Psychiatric Disorders Had Variable Long‐Term Outcomes and Required Multidisciplinary Management

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, Volume 114, Issue 6, Page 1437-1444, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim Sydenham chorea (SC) is a globally significant, post‐streptococcal, childhood neuropsychiatric condition that is rare in western Europe. This retrospective single‐centre study focused on children with neuropsychiatric features of SC. Methods Participants were recruited from neuropsychiatry referrals to a regional paediatric neurology ...
