Investigating Performance and Practices with Univariate Distribution Charts

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract A range of charts with different strengths and weaknesses exists to support the visual analysis of univariate distributions, with a limited understanding of which charts best support which tasks and users, and how practitioners use charts. We categorize the available charts for univariate distributions into four groups and present the results ...

SharpEdge: Edge Feature Surface Reconstruction From Space Curves

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
SharpEdge reconstructs surfaces with sharp features from sparse 3D curve networks. By estimating dual normals along curves, our method preserves ridges and corners while producing high‐quality meshes. Abstract Reconstructing high‐quality surfaces from sparse 3D space curves remains challenging, particularly when sharp feature edges are involved ...

HySE: A Force‐Directed Layout Algorithm for Directed and Mixed Graphs

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We present HySE, a novel graph layout algorithm for mixed graphs combining directed and undirected components. Using a holistic spring embedder approach, HySE unifies hierarchical and force‐directed aesthetics, supports non‐uniform node sizes, and performs comparably to state‐of‐the‐art algorithms.

VisQI: A Visual Analysis Tool for the Debugging of Quantum Image Processing Algorithms

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We present VisQI, an interactive visualization framework that facilitates the analysis and debugging of quantum image processing (QIMP) algorithms using NEQR‐encoded images. VisQI allows users to inspect quantum operations on images step by step, providing a deeper understanding of image evolution.

Caregivers' perspectives of support needs for adolescents with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder

open access: yesChildren &Society, EarlyView.
Abstract Research focused on fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) is often deficit‐focused, limiting a holistic understanding of individuals' support needs. Families of adolescents with FASD also struggle to access appropriate services. Using semi‐structured interviews, the current study explored the perspectives of seven caregivers of adolescents ...

Linking human tick bite risk with tick abundance in the environment: A novel approach to quantify tick bite risk using orienteers in Scotland [PDF]

open access: yesTicks and Tick-borne Diseases, 2023
The rate that people are bitten by ticks is critical in determining the risk of tick-borne infections but is rarely quantified accurately. Often tick abundance in the environment is used as a proxy for tick bite risk, but the relationship with risk is ...

TICK BITES IN KOREA

International Journal of Dermatology, 1994
Abstract Background. Tick bites are dermatoses not commonly encountered in Korea. Recognizing their clinical signs as well as their histopathologic findings is important In making a diagnosis of tick‐related dermatoses. The incidence and causative species are different depending on the geographic areas.
