Voltage‐Reconfigurable Magneto‐Ionic Nanolayers in Dot Arrays for Probabilistic, Materials‐Engineered Security Primitives

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A magneto‐ionic security‐by‐materials‐design strategy exploits voltage‐driven N3– migration in selectively contacted FeCoN dots, creating reconfigurable sub‐15 nm ferromagnetic sublayers with deterministic and/or probabilistic (single‐domain↔vortex) states, voltage‐tunable probabilities and fully stochastic orientation/chirality.

Association between tick-bite history and safety of gelatin-containing vaccines: Analysis of a large database of the United States

open access: yesTicks and Tick-Borne Diseases
Alpha-gal syndrome (AGS) is an allergic reaction caused by sensitization to alpha-gal, a sugar molecule in gelatin-containing vaccines. Tick bites can induce alpha-gal IgE sensitization, as ticks inject alpha-gal through their saliva.

Senkyunolide I Inhibits mtDNA‐cGAS‐STING Signaling in Macrophages via Targeting VDAC1 Oligomerization to Attenuate Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In macrophages, senkyunolide I (SEI) directly targets the K12 residue of VDAC1 to inhibit its stress‐induced oligomerization, a critical upstream event that effectively prevents mitochondrial DNA release and subsequent cGAS‐STING pathway activation.

The structure and behavioral patterns of the human population affected by ixodid tick bites in Irkutsk Region, Eastern Siberia, Russia

open access: yesTicks and Tick-Borne Diseases
The bites of hard ticks are the major route of transmission of tick-borne infections to humans, causing thousands of cases of diseases worldwide. However, the characteristics of the human population that is exposed to tick bites are still understudied ...

Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever, Kazakhstan, 2009–2010

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2012
We evaluated Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) surveillance data from southern Kazakhstan during 2009–2010 and found both spatial and temporal association between reported tick bites and CCHF cases. Public health measures should center on preventing

Isocyanate‐Modified Melatplatin(IV) Enhances Antitumor Efficacy via TCF4/COL6A3‐Mediated Extracellular Matrix Remodeling and cGAS‐STING Pathway Activation in Bladder Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A series of melatonin‐conjugated platinum(IV) prodrugs was functionalized with isocyanate chains (compounds 5‒12). MP‐12C (compound 11) was identified as the lead candidate, with optimal potency and safety. MP‐12C exhibited greater efficacy than cisplatin by increasing intracellular uptake, reshaping the extracellular matrix, activating the cGAS‐STING ...

Molecular Factors Involved in Tick-Bite Mediated Allergy to the Carbohydrate Alpha-Gal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Red meat allergy aka α-Gal allergy is a delayed allergic response occurring upon consumption of mammalian meat and by-products. Patients report eating meat without any problems for several years before developing the allergy.

Decoding Biomolecular Phase Separation: From Physiological Roles to Pathological Mechanisms and Therapeutic Biomaterials Design

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review systematically elaborates on the mechanisms underlying physiological regulation and pathological dysregulation of biomolecular phase separation. It also summarizes advances in phase‑separation‑targeted therapeutic strategies and the design of functional biomaterials inspired by this process.

Lifestyle, habitat and farmers' risk of exposure to tick bites in an endemic area of tick-borne diseases in Hungary [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Controlling tick bites on farmers is important to the management of tick-borne diseases and occupational health risks in agriculture. Based on an extensive household survey conducted between June and August 2015 with 219 farmers from western Hungary ...
