An economic evaluation of tick line deregulation in Queensland

open access: yes
Rhipicephalus microplus, the cattle tick, is widely distributed across many tropical and subtropical regions of the world and has been identified as the most economically important species of tick across a number of countries.

A reverse vaccinology approach identified novel recombinant tick proteins with protective efficacy against Rhipicephalus microplus infestation

open access: yes
The cattle tick, Rhipicephalus microplus, causes significant economic losses to the cattle industry. Tick control is predominately achieved via pesticide applications.

Double‐Sided Mechanical Interlocking Enables Soft‐Rigid Conductive Interfaces With a Record High Toughness for Flexible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A double‐sided mechanical interlocking strategy is developed to create robust electrical contact between polymer electrode and metal interconnect. The fibrous structure enables formation of thread–hole adhesion, which only breaks under bulk failure and achieves a record high interfacial energy exceeding 730 J·m−2. This adhesion secures the integrity of

Oppositely Charged Single Enzyme Nanogels Form Versatile Coacervates for Efficient Enzyme Cascade Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Oppositely charged single enzyme nanogels (SENs) phase‐separate into bi‐enzymatic coacervate microdroplets, acting as both scaffold and functional units. By tuning SEN ratios, these coacervates create specific microenvironments that enable selective small‐molecule enrichment and efficient intermediate diffusion.

BioEISense: A Microfluidic Platform for Real‐Time Monitoring of Staphylococcus aureus Biofilm Formation and the Efficacy of Antibiofilm Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
BioEISense is a microfluidic device with integrated impedance sensors, for real‐time, label‐free monitoring of S. aureus biofilms. In this study, the biofilm culture conditions were optimized to support sensitive and reproducible detection of biofilm formation and eradication under dynamic flow‐through conditions. The system was also validated for both

Sensitive and Spatially‐Resolved Electrochemiluminescence via Micropatterning

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The use of a simple silica nanoparticle surface coating and patterning process can transform ordinary gold electrodes into multiplexed ECL sensing electrodes. Through spatially confined droplet formation and local ECL emission, it is possible to perform multiple analyses simultaneously from individual locations as well as intensify the ECL signal by as

Non-Chemical Control of Nymphal Longhorned Tick, Haemaphysalis longicornis Neumann 1901 (Acari: Ixodidae), Using Diatomaceous Earth

open access: yesInsects
The longhorned tick (LHT), Haemaphysalis longicornis Neumann (Acari: Ixodidae), is a serious invasive pest in North America where its geographical range is expanding with high densities associated with commercial animal production.

Light Switchable Ionic Conductivity of Arylazopyrazole Modified Polysiloxanes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We present a polysiloxane functionalized with a novel arylazopyrazole dye that undergoes reversible photoisomerization. Upon lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide addition and UV irradiation, the polymer exhibits a shift in tan(d) toward higher frequencies and enhanced ionic conductivity.

A Field Study Examining the Attraction of Adult Dermacentor variabilis to Heat Stimuli Associated with Road Edge Habitats

open access: yesPathogens
Ticks use multiple sensory organs to facilitate host detection, including Haller’s organs (HOs) that allow ticks to sense infrared (IR) radiation from potential hosts. Additionally, ticks have primitive eyes to sense light sources. The possibility exists
