Unspecific Molecular Adsorption (UMA) Sample Preparation Method for Bottom‐up and Whole Protein Analysis: The Foundation

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The protein sample preparation methods for shotgun proteomics are nowadays well‐established unlike the ones for whole protein analysis. The goal of my work has been to create a simple methodology which provides a single uncomplicated sample preparation tool for these two fields. Nowadays the bulk of proteomics work is done using detergents for

Microbubble‐Based Ultrasound Contrast Agents in Contrast‐Enhanced Ultrasonography for Managing Portal Hypertension in Cirrhosis

open access: yesPortal Hypertension &Cirrhosis, EarlyView.
As the hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) remains the current gold standard for diagnosing portal hypertension in cirrhosis, its clinical application is limited by invasiveness, high cost, and restricted availability. Given the urgent need for noninvasive techniques to dynamically monitor portal vein pressure (PVP), contrast‐enhanced ...

Strain Effects on Melting of Thermally Induced Crystals in Polyisoprene Rubber

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
The melting temperature (Tm) of thermally induced crystals (TICs) in synthetic cis‐1,4‐polyisoprene rubber (IR) slightly increases (~4 K) upon stretching, accompanied by peak broadening, indicating destabilization of the rubbery state and a broader crystal size distribution.

A walk in the park—Identifying healthy greenspaces using scents

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
As urbanisation accelerates globally, access to nature is increasingly recognised as vital for public health and wellbeing. We captured and analysed plant‐emitted airborne ‘scent signatures’ across Oxford's urban greenspaces to assess their potential health relevance.

Exploring the Fragmentation of Sodiated Species Involving Covalent‐Bond Cleavages for Metabolite Characterization

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rationale Electrospray (ESI), the most popular desorption/ionization technique used in mass spectrometry‐based metabolomics, generates both protonated and deprotonated molecules, as well as adduct ions, sodium being the most frequent monoatomic cation entering their composition.
