Tidal Inlets and Tidal Deltas

1985
This introductory section will serve to set the stage for later, more detailed investigations into the bedform patterns, sedimentary structures, detailed morphology, and stratigraphic sequences of tidal inlets and tidal deltas. Davies (1964) classifies shorelines on the basis of tidal range as follows: (1) microtidal, tidal range 4 m.

Ocean Tidal Models and Tidal Gravity Observation

Oceanology, 2020
Abstract—Tidal ocean corrections for gravity observation play an important part in monitoring studies. Tidal ocean models were tested by Transcontinental Tidal Gravity Profile (TTGP) results. This part of the global tidal network was used for study the influence of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans up to coastline.

Tidal Channels on Tidal Flats and Marshes

2011
In shallow coastal settings channels provide a pathway for the tide to propagate and are, thus, a primary control on the sedimentation and ecology of these environments. Being shaped by bidirectional flows, tidal channels exhibit morphologies, which, despite apparent similarities, bear significant and fundamental differences to fluvial channels ...

Galileo’s Tidal Theory

Isis, 2007
The aim of Galileo's tidal theory was to show that the tides were produced entirely by the earth's motion and thereby to demonstrate the physical truth of Copernicanism. However, in the Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems Galileo did not explain some of the most significant aspects of the theory completely.

Tidal residual circulation produced by a tidal vortex

Journal of the Oceanographical Society of Japan, 1984

Hydrodynamics of Tidal Inlets

1988
A review of the hydrodynamics of tidal inlets is presented. In discussing the hydro-dynamics a distinction is made between 1 dimensional (vertically and horizontally averaged) models and 2 dimensional (vertically averaged) models. For the ID models, the governing equations are derived. Numerical and approximate analytical solutions are presented.

Tidal Modelling - Executive Summary - Tidal Modelling

2013
Launched in October 2011 this project involved Black & Veatch, in collaboration with HR Wallingford and the University of Edinburgh to develop a model of the UK Continental Shelf and North European Waters, 100 times more accurate than existing marine data.
