Generating Continental Scale Pixel-Based Surface Reflectance Composites in Coastal Regions with the Use of a Multi-Resolution Tidal Model

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Generating continental-scale pixel composites in dynamic coastal and estuarine environments presents a unique challenge, as the application of a temporal or seasonal approach to composite generation is confounded by tidal influences.

Optimization of a Grid-Connected Microgrid Using Tidal and Wind Energy in Cook Strait

open access: yesFluids, 2021
The Cook Strait in New Zealand is an ideal location for wind and tidal renewable sources of energy due to its strong winds and tidal currents. The integration of both technologies can help to avoid the detrimental effects of fossil fuels and to reduce ...

Muti-indicator integrated assessment of coastal erosion vulnerablity in the Abandoned Yellow River Delta using geospatial approaches

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Coastal erosion is the leading marine hazard in the Abandoned Yellow River Delta, and coastal erosion vulnerability assessment is essential for disaster mitigation and risk reduction.

Value of Local Offshore Renewable Resource Diversity for Network Hosting Capacity

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
It is imperative to increase the connectable capacity (i.e., hosting capacity) of distributed generation in order to decarbonise electricity distribution networks.

Sand bars in tidal channels Part 2. Tidal meanders [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2002
Careful analysis of new field observations on the geometry of meandering tidal channels reveals that the values of meander wavelengths as well as curvatures, conveniently scaled by local channel width, fall within a fairly restricted range, suggesting the existence of some mechanistic process controlling meander formation. A three-dimensional model

The tidal force function and tidal torques [PDF]

open access: yesStudia Geophysica et Geodaetica, 1996
The tidal force function of the two-body system is defined. It is formed by two parts, reflecting the direct, as well as, the indirect tidal effects. It enables deriving the tidal torques due to both the tidal effects independently of density distributions.

Somatostatin receptor 4 (SSTR4) is a tumor suppressor in cutaneous and head & neck squamous cell carcinomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies somatostatin receptor 4 (Sstr4) as a critical tumor suppressor against skin and head/neck cancers (HNSCC, cSCC, and BCC). The loss of Sstr4 removes a check on cell growth, causing hyperactivation of the MAPK‐ERK signaling pathway (↑).

Identification of the Uncertainties for the Calibration of the Partial Safety Factors for Load in Tidal Turbines

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2016
Tidal energy is nowadays one of the fastest growing types of marine renewable energy. In particular, Horizontal Axis Tidal Turbines (HATTs) are the most advanced designs and the most appropriate for standardization. This paper presents a review of actual

Integrated PANoptosis Profiling Identifies Immunosuppressive Subtypes and a Prognostic Signature With Functional Validation of MLKL in Glioblastoma

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The prognosis of glioblastoma (GBM) remains highly unfavorable, largely due to high tumor heterogeneity and an immunosuppressive microenvironment. However, the functional role of PANoptosis in this context is poorly understood. Methods Patients were stratified via K‐means clustering. A risk score model was constructed using prognosis‐
