Hybridisation as an Ecological Process: Admixed Individuals Contribute Substantially to Canopy Biomass in an Intertidal Macroalgal Hybrid Zone

On sheltered shores of the Swedish west coast, the canopy‐forming seaweeds Fucus spiralis and F. vesiculosus meet across an intertidal gradient only tens of centimetres wide. Genome‐wide data resolve two parental ancestry groups separated by a sharply bounded zone of admixed individuals whose position on the shore tracks depth.

The 2025 Kamchatka Earthquake and Tsunami: Cascading Impacts and Risks to Japan

ABSTRACT On July 29th, 2025, a large earthquake (Mw 8.8) occurred near the Kamchatka Peninsula. This event caused a tsunami that reached Japan's Pacific coast, even though the source was far away. In this study, we analyze the characteristics of earthquakes and tsunamis and discuss how they relate to the recurrence possibility and risk in Japan.

Documented spatial and temporal variability in vegetation traits, inundation dynamics and sediment supply warrants further investigation in saltmarsh modelling frameworks.

Use of High‐Flow Nasal Cannula in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Patients Intolerant to Non‐Invasive Ventilation: A Case Series

In this case series of 18 patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and intolerance to non‐invasive ventilation, high‐flow nasal cannula was feasible as home‐based respiratory support. Gas exchange remained stable during follow‐up despite progressive functional decline, supporting further evaluation of HFNC as an alternative or complementary strategy
