A review of tidal current energy resource assessment: Current status and trend
2018 5th International Conference on Renewable Energy: Generation and Applications (ICREGA), 2018Renewable energy resources is one of the alternative energy source identified to address the issue of climate change, energy security and economic growth. Tidal energy is a predictable and reliable source of energy where the exploitable capacity is potentially huge, dispersed in different locations globally.

The Taiwan Strait has recently been proposed as a promising site for dynamic tidal power systems because of its shallow depth and strong tides. Dynamic tidal power is a new concept for extracting tidal potential energy in which a coast-perpendicular dike is used to create water head and generate electricity via turbines inserted in the dike.

State of the art in tidal current energy extracting technologies
2014 First International Conference on Green Energy ICGE 2014, 2014The potential of electric power generation from tidal currents is enormous. Tidal currents are being recognized as a resource to be exploited for the sustainable generation of electrical power. The high ocean water density leads to that tidal current turbine blades size are much smaller than wind turbine blades for the same power level.

Case study: Tidal current energy potential in Bangladesh
2013 International Conference on Informatics, Electronics and Vision (ICIEV), 2013In developing country like Bangladesh, the demand of electrical energy is very higher than the available production. At present, the electricity supply deficiency is about 1500 to 2000 MW /day i.e. the total supply is 4000 to 4500 MW/day within the demand of 6000 MW/day for this reason power failure has become an acute problem in our country.

Energy balance of the tidal current in the Obatake Seto Strait
Journal of the Oceanographical Society of Japan, 1989Current measurements made with a Doppler Current Profiler were taken along cross sections in the Obatake Seto Strait, a small strait in the western part of the Seto Inland Sea. The energy loss between two cross sections of the strait was estimated using the control volume analysis of the stationary one-dimensional energy equation. The large energy loss

A step closer to a future powered by tidal current energy
2022In this webinar, Ross Vennell (Cawthron) presented the results of the Energy from tidal currents project. This project investigated the viability of generation electricity from the strong tidal currents within Cook Strait. Cook Strait is potentially one of the best sites in the world for generating power from tidal currents. Tidal currents are a highly

Simulation of a Biomimetic Tidal Current Energy Conversion Device
Volume 2: Ocean Engineering and Polar and Arctic Sciences and Technology, 2006Aquatic species have evolved highly efficient modes of swimming through natural selection. The most efficient in terms of forward thrust are Thunniform-mode swimming species (eg. tuna, shark). These species are propelled by lateral oscillation of a stiff lunate caudal fin with motion primarily limited to the fin and peduncle (aft tail) regions. In this

Assessing the Potential Production of a Tidal Current Energy Project
SPE Offshore Europe Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition, 2007Abstract The renewable resource of tidal current is presently attracting the interest of many companies. Several systems are in the development stage and SAIPEM is participating in one of them. The tidal streams are predictable well in advance but are variable along the hours and the days.
